i know i always put these links on here but they always say it better than i can…  it refers to the heated “socialism” debate and whether it is really has any merit.  make sure to pay attention towards the end to what mccain said on “meet the press” about the rich paying higher taxes.  i guess, if obama is a socialist then mccain is one too.

drover, you make a valid point that the demand from the working class leads to increased production and the creation of jobs.  I see the US at a technological crossroads in medicine, energy and defense.  But job creation must first be spawned by incentives to businesses vs Obama’s plan to give out money.  Once businesses are incentivized, then consumer demand can play a big part in sustaining growth.  Which came first, the chicken or the egg?  Either way, raising taxes won’t get the job done.  And Obama plans on allowing the ‘01 and ‘03 tax cuts to expire so every family and business will get smacked with higher taxes.  Can you say “The Great Depression Redeux?“

For the record, I am one conservative thinker that opposed to two tax rebates from the Bush administration.  FDR did a much better job at stimulating the economy through public work programs.  Although, the money still came from the government, at least we got something for it like dams, bridges and highways.  I simply do not believe in the govt providing hand-outs…the govt should provide opportunities.

Could you please tell me what part of Obama’s plan raises tax on “every family”, I just can not find that part, all I find is that he will reduce tax on 95% of working families.  You state “at least we got something for it like dams, bridges and highways.“, I glad to see that you agree with what Obama proposed several weeks ago.  Obama proposed money to upgrade infrastructure as a way of getting people back to construction jobs and to provide manufacturing jobs.

Hey, I’m not opposed to everything Obama says.  He has said plenty of times that he will allow the tax cuts of ‘01 and ‘03 to expire.  Those cuts touched A LOT of people, most in the lower and middle class.  He has also said plenty of times that he’d like to see the same progressive rates as during the 90s.  Either is higher than today.

Obama paints a pretty picture but for me, again, simple pieces to put together.  Not to mention, it’s a matter of history on taxes in a recession.  It didn’t work for Hoover (a Rep.) nor Carter (a Dem.) and it ain’t gonna work for Obama.

Reagan’s administration began the greatest peace-time growth a nation had ever seen.  Bush’s problem has been spending.  He never saw a bill he didn’t sign, with just about every one having $$$ in it.
