I know the person responsible will probably never read this, but part of healing is getting your feelings out.

Saturday Night, per usual my husband let my little dashund “oscar” out to pee and he never returned. Why? I found out 30 minutes later when i went looking for him when my world turned upside down i found my precious beloved dog lying motionless in the road at the end of our yard.  Cars fly up and down Pine Glade rd, with no regard for anyone or anything. My family lost a precious family member saturday. To many…. pft it’s a dog. To me he was salvation from a hard day, the light after a rough work day. A friend to unconditionally love. The understanding chocolate eyes and the silly little playmate with my cat.  He was the “baby” to my husky she was never able to have and in one blink of an eye some idiot took it all away from me and my children.

Emotionally i hope who ever hit him and NEVER stopped, I hope Karma comes back at you at some near point.  Had you stopped i still would have been hurt but atleast you would have shown having a heart. By not stopping not doing anything But flying by, you are a heartless coward. You ripped the hearts out of 2 adults and 2 children in one thoughtless action.

oscar didnt usually leave the yard. so yes your probably saying “tie” him, but he kneww his boundries. this time.. my daughter was across the street at a friends and apparently oscar decided he wanted to check on her and his love for our family and the carelessness of 1 person met in the middle with a tragic result.

I am sorry for your loss.  Animals are a part of most people’s families.  Mine included.  With that being said however;

There are so many mean people in the world would you honestly stop somewhere if you hit an animal?  I wouldn’t and I wouldn’t because I don’t know what type of person the dog/cat/exc. belongs to and what they are capable of doing to a person who done something like that if it be an accident.  I mean they could get beat up or something.  I wouldn’t risk that.  Just my honest opinion.

The dog was black, it was night.  It happens.

Again though I am sorry for your loss, he was a cute little dog.

I know and I understand to some degree but sitting here as i am, I would Stop, my conscious would make me stop i cry if i hit a rabbit or anything, thats just me. And as for the owners attitude, its a chance you take, i would cry i would be upset but i know and understand things happen, to me it is simply cruel to wonder if it was instant or if HAD i know i could have saved my beloved dog.

I will never understand someone hitting an animal INFRONT of a house with bicycles and so forth knowing and more then likely traveling my road on a daily basis having had seen my dog, myself or my kids and NOT stopping to atleast say I couldnt have done anything different.

To each their own, but i would NEVER do that to a family, because for every pet there is atleast 1 heart that beats with unconditional love for that animal, in this case atleast 4 hearts were crushed without a second thought by the driver of that car.

I hope one day their conscious atleast makes them say im sorry, heck a letter in the mailbox would be fine.. something to say they know it happened and that my dog wasnt simply someone trying to see what kinda havoc they can wreck. Some people DELIBERATELY swerve to try and hit animals. Me i’d all but wreck to avoid hurting a living creature.

I know, I agree with you.  If I upset you I didn’t mean to.  I still don’t think I’d stop and I know I would feel horrible.  I’m quite the small person though and honestly can’t hold my own in a fight and like I said - you never know what someone could do.  I would feel horrible if I ever did hit an animal and in fact I did hit a bunny once and went back and picked him up (he was alive - I just kind of gave him road burn) and took him to the vet.

People are very cruel though.  And that is everywhere.  As a teenager, I had a puppy who was outside as I sat on the stairs while he played.  A truck came flying past and actually came into the yard to hit my dog.  He was killed instantly as I watched and all I could tell was it was a black truck (it was night) and there was no lights on/near the tag.

You Didnt upset me, i understand all view points, and welcome them. Emotionally im still completely crushed. and i understand where your coming from, and you having been through somethign similar you understand my feelings.

I think civilization as a whole, on many many obligation, moral and virtue levels has plummeted to an all time low.
