Palin would “stand up to Putin and other would-be dictators” because she doesn’t know any better and this is a good idea!!!!!! Someone please, please tell me that I misread this.

You didn’t misread it, but it was meant as a “tongue-in-cheek” comment :) Sarcasm is a little difficult to convey in print.

But at the same time, I think it makes a valid point. How many “politicians” are going to tell some of these crazy people around the world to go jump in the lake?

When Palin gave her “introduction” speech at McCain’s side, I said she could turn the tide.  Then at the convention, she spoke with confidence and seemed like a great choice. I am somewhat embarrassed to admit this but, as a woman, I wanted her to “hit it out of the park”.  At the time she was chosen, I had decided to vote for anyone but McCain. She was the reason I reconsidered.  Then the true Palin appeared in the interviews.  I don’t buy the “liberal” media gotcha trap door questions defense.  Even a question as easy as “what do you read” is a gotcha question.  No matter the question, whining about the media(except Foxnews) doesn’t signify the strength that she is supposed to have.  I don’t care if Mandell thinks Palin is a feminist in opposition to Steinem’s feelings.  I have no idea how intelligent Palin truly is or what she is truly like, but she sounds more and more like a died in the wool politician willing to do anything for power rather than “hockey mom” “joe six-pack” who is one of us.

I think that Palin represents what a modern woman can be if she puts her mind to it.  Not only is she a mother of five children, but was elected Mayor and then Govenor.  That is no small feat in today’s world.  I have watched the interviews on TV about this woman and have read her record in Alaska.  That is what I base my opinion upon.

No small feat in today’s world for a woman with 5 children to move so quickly up the political ladder, I absolutely agree.  Yet, from much the same information, I find her to be a calculating politician regardless of her gender.

That is one of the many things that makes this nation great.  You and I are able to see the same thing, and the perception turn out completely different and we face no repurcussions.

All politicians are calculating.  At the end of the day it is their accomplishments that speak for themselves.  Palin’s record on helping special needs children, especially.  The money from the “Bridge to Nowhere” went for repairing roads and new infrastructure for the state.

Unfortunatley for Obama, his accomplishments do not bode well.

All politicians are calculating.  At the end of the day it is their accomplishments that speak for themselves.  Palin’s record on helping special needs children, especially.  The money from the “Bridge to Nowhere” went for repairing roads and new infrastructure for the state.

Unfortunatley for Obama, his accomplishments do not bode well.

What exactly is her record on helping special needs children?

Also, if the money for the “Bridge to Nowhere went for repairing roads and new infrastructure for the state” why the “Thanks but No Thanks” speeches as if the money had been returned?

Palin increased the special needs childrens fund by 175%.  What’s gone unmentioned is that the Palin signed into law a dramatic reform of the state’s education financing system that equalizes aid to rural and urban districts, while significantly increasing funding for special needs students.

Biden and Obama voted for the Bridge to Nowhere bill and voted against more funding to Katrina.

Palins brags of returning money to tax payers, she is able, in part, to do that by using earmarks like the “bridge to nowhere” money (our money) to conduct state business.  Fact is that a part of the money returned to Alaskans came from tax payers of the other 49 states.  Our Governor would be very popular if could use money from the other 49 states to repair Virginia roads and infrastructure and give us a tax rebate.

Then Obama and Biden must not have had a problem giving your tax dollars away.  Obama collected $1million in earmarks for his wife’s hospital.  Biden was given about 3.4million from Obama for Amtrak.  Biden’s son is a lobbyist for Amtrak.

Unfortunately, Biden’s son is now being sued and under investigation.

Tell us how many lobbyist there are in McCains campaign staff!!!!

I will list them if you promise to list the lobbyists on Obama’s staff.

I wasn’t asking about the Obama/Biden voting record.  I am aware of their record.  I appreciate the information about her record with children and will read it but I asked “, if the money for the “Bridge to Nowhere went for repairing roads and new infrastructure for the state” why the “Thanks but No Thanks” speeches as if the money had been returned? “  The response you gave didn’t explain why she repeated the “Thanks but No Thanks” speech.  This falls into the same catergory as “I put that plane on Ebay”.  Both statements infer something different than the facts.  Her defenders say did not openly lie but there was something implied that doesn’t match the truth. Unfortunately, Senator McCain wasn’t let in on the subtle difference until he failed to use the nuanced statements.

Were you able to see Palin’s interview with Gibson? When pushed by Gibson for supporting the bridge and then opposing it, Palin said she never fought for the bridge, but was, instead, in favor of money used to improve Alaska’s infrastructure. The state still received the federal funds, even though the bridge project was nixed.

She put the plane on Ebay, but it did not sell.  So she sold it to the highest bidder. Larry Reynolds bought the plane for $2.1M.  The plane orginally cost $2.7M.  A bit of a loss, but still a savings for the state as they did not have to pay for maintenance and so forth.

I am sorry the Weekly Standard is not solid enough information for you to form an opinion.  I would suggest you actually read the budget or go to Factcheck or google the information.
