I did not state that factcheck was always wrong, but at times I have found them to be a little biased in their findings.  That is why I encourage reading the actual legislation regarding some issues.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 20 (UPI)—The adviser who helped John McCain re-write campaign finance laws is now helping him exploit their loopholes, The New York Times (NYSE:NYT) reported Saturday.

Trevor Potter, a former Federal Elections Commission chairman, helped Republican U.S. presidential nominee McCain, a U.S. senator from Arizona, team with Sen. Russell Feingold, D-Wis., to craft a 2002 law to discourage the influence of big money in elections. But now Potter is helping McCain find ways around it as a presidential candidate, the newspaper said.

As chief of the reform group The Campaign Legal Center, Potter once warned that an FEC ruling allowing some types of private donations to political campaigns that accept public funding would be exploited as a legal loophole, and now the McCain campaign is doing just that in a series of new Web-based campaign ads, the Times reported.

The McCain campaign wouldn’t allow Potter to speak with the newspaper for an interview. McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said in a written statement that the campaign had not yet paid for the Web ads with a special fund set up to comply with the FEC regulations, but says it “reserves the option to do so under this recent, clear FEC precedent.“

We already know that Obama has been accepting money from the middle east.  We know they are operating phone banks on his behalf.

Now we find out there are phone banks being operated on the Democrats behalf from Romania.

Republicans, furious about negative campaign phone calls made by Democrats last week in Billings, did everything but label the tactic un-American.

Turns out, they could have.

The calls were made from Romania, according to phone records submitted this week to the state commissioner of political practices.

Jack Sands, a GOP candidate in Senate District 27 and the target of the Oct. 12 calls, filed the complaint alleging that the people making the calls didn’t identify who they were calling for. Senate District 27 includes parts of Billings and Yellowstone County. State law prohibits anonymous election material.

“Often, the people making the calls failed to identify with whom they were affiliated, provided unverifiable names or hung up. Voters with caller ID said the source phone number for the negative calls came up 406-000-0000.“

“While Sands is challenging the calls on disclosure violations, O’Brien said the Republican isn’t challenging the truth of what was being said” 

So he is saying, yes I did it but don’t tell anyone??

My question:if they “failed to identify with whom they were affiliated, provided unverifiable names or hung up.“ how does TOM LUTEY Of The Gazette Staff know it came from Democrats?  I guess he has a crystal ball.

Foreign nationals are not permitted to take part in our election process nor donate to US campaigns.
