Carol E. Chewning
Carol Eller Chewning, 49, of Marion died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 17, at 2 p.m. at Bradley’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Neitch and the Rev. Fred Parker officiating.
She was born in Smyth County and was a registered nurse having received her nursing degree from Wytheville Community College. She had worked at Wythe County Community Hospital for over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Monroe and Lenna Tilson, and James and Nancy Eller; and a sister, Nancy Eller.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Chewning of Marion; daughter, Rachel Chewning of the home; father, Bob Edison Eller of Marion; mother and stepfather, Josephine Tilson Eller Cox and Hassel of Marion; two stepchildren, Marsha Money of Tazewell and Edward Vaughn of Savannah, Ga.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James and Debbie Eller of Damascus, and Roger Cox of Marion; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and James Dempsey, Mary and Ronnie Boothe, Sandra and Steve Smith, all of Marion; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Cathy Chewning of Bland, Clifford and Rosie Chewning of Rural Retreat, Mary Jane and Larry Sarver of Bland; grandson, Gabriel Money; and nieces and nephews, Larry Dempsey, Danielle Boothe, Morgan Chewning, Robby Chewning, Ben Chewning and C.J. Chewning.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 17, from noon to 2 p.m. (service time) at Bradley’s Funeral Home.

Audrey S. Greco
Audrey Lee Smith Greco, 81, of Staunton died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Funeral service was held Friday, May 16, at 2 p.m. at the Henry Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Hart and Jason Thornton officiating. Burial was in the Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
She was born June 21, 1926, in Rocky Gap, a daughter of the late Gentry and Dane Dunnagan Smith. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Everette Greco Jr.; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Everette Greco of Staunton; and a sister, Lois Hart of Grottoes.

Mary M. Grubb
Mary Jane Martin Grubb, 83, of Wytheville died Thursday, May 15, 2008.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, May 18, at 2 p.m. at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Collins and the Rev. Tommy Addison officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She was a member of Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stuard and Grace Robinson Martin; her husband, Edgar Lee Grubb; eight brothers, Robert Lee Martin, James Earl “Frog” Martin, Ernest Edward “Pete” Martin, George Derold Martin, William Maiden Martin, Frank Richard Martin, Cabble Jesse Martin and Charlie Oscar Martin; and a sister, Ida Martin Frye.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Doris Ann and Leonard Wayne Pugh of Wytheville; four sons and daughters-in-law, Edgar Lee Grubb Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, Stuart Wayne and Becky Grubb, Roger Dean Grubb, Gary and Alice Grubb, all of Wytheville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Grubb Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.

Thomas H. Swecker
Thomas Harmon Swecker, 81, of Barren Springs died Wednesday, May 14, 2008.
Funeral service was held Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Harry Gunther officiating. Interment was in the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery with Grover King Post 1115 VFW conducting graveside military rites.
He was born Feb. 28, 1927, in Wythe County, a son of the late Haymon and Ada Bond Swecker. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dondee Stoots Swecker; four sisters, Opal Friend, Ila Stilwell, Margaret Burnett and Shirley Dicker; and three brothers, Carlos Swecker, Harold Swecker and Ralph Swecker.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Sue Dicker of Barren Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas E. and Carolyn Swecker of Dacula, Ga.; three sisters, Gladys Nester of Gum Springs, Julia Semones of Max Meadows and Millie Mitchem of Galax; two brothers, Jim Swecker of Vinton and Muncy Swecker of Pulaski; four granddaughters and their husbands, Christy and Joey Lowe, Rhonda and Walter Hinkley, Jennifer and Walid Abdelwabed, Holly and Danny Duncan; eight great-grandchildren; seven honored stepgrandchildren; and 17 stepgreat-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Dora Highway Baptist Church in Pulaski.
Reese Funeral Home in Austinville was in charge of the arrangements.
