Varsity softball beats Patrick Henry 1-0

The varsity softball team played its third straight 1-0 game, dropping the second straight district game by that score as the Lady Buffs fell to Auburn at Riner Friday, April 25.
Kelli Walters led off the game with a single, but that was the only hit of the game for the Buffaloes.
In the bottom of the inning, Nicole Layton led off with a single and scored what turned out to be the game’s only run. The Eagles loaded the bases with two out but Floyd got out of the inning with no more damage.
Floyd went down 1-2-3 in the next three innings. The Buffs got a runner on in the fifth, and had two on with one out in the seventh but did not score.

Sandwiched between the 1-0 losses to Glenvar and Auburn, the Buffaloes came out on the positive side of a 1-0 decision, beating Patrick Henry in 10 innings at Floyd 1-0 Wednesday, April 23.
Kat Mills led off the bottom of the 10th with a double. Kelli Walters reached on an error and then Alexis Roop brought in Mills with a suicide squeeze bunt.
Mills and Amber Ingram teamed up to pitch the shutout and combined for 12 strikeouts. Ashley Funk and Mattie Osterhaun combined for 14 strikeouts for the Patriots.
