Varsity boys beat Glenvar

The varsity basketball team won its first district game and its second of the season, coming from 17 points behind to beat Glenvar 63-57 at Glenvar Wednesday, February 6.
The Highlanders jumped out to a 26-9 first quarter lead as John McGhee hit three three-pointers. For the Buffs, Travis Crawford had two three pointers, Brett Holman had a field goal and Brogan Franklin made a free throw.
Floyd outscored Glenvar 18-10 in the second quarter to pull within 36-27 at the half. Crawford had a field goal and made six free throws, Kaleb Gallimore had a field goal and two free throws, and Nathan Coartney, Zach Yates, and Brian Ingram had field goals.
A 17-10 third quarter got the Buffs within 46-44. Crawford had a pair of three pointers, Coartney had a three and a field goal, and Ingram, Thomas Gearhart and Travis Bolt had field goals.
The Buffaloes led by as much as 12 points in the fourthy. Crawford had a field goal and four free throws, Holman had two field goals and a free throw, Gearhart had three free throws, Bolt and Franklin had two free throws each, and Coartney made one free throw.

Eastern Montgomery used a 15-0 second half run to key a 56-43 win over the Buffaloes at Floyd Friday, February 8. It was the final home game of the year and Senior Night for the Buffs.
The Mustangs went up 4-0 on baskets by Brad Wooten and Shawn Christian. Two free throws by Brogan Franklin and a fast break by Thomas Gearhart tied the game.
Christian and Henry Hall had baskets for EastMont, with Franklin adding two more free throws for Floyd.
Jeremy Smith got two free throws and Hall hit a three for the Mustangs, with Gearhart getting a score for Floyd. A Hall basket put EastMont up 15-8 at the end of the first quarter.
A pair of threes by Hall upped the lead to 13. Floyd came back with an 18-6 run that cut the halftime lead to one point.
The Buffs had a 12-0 run as Brett Holman got a tough basket, Travis Crawford hit a three and scored on a drive, Holman made a free throw, and Nathan Coartney got two lay ups to cut the lead to 21-20.
Christian hit a three for Eastmont, then Crawford scored on a steal and Zach Yates got a basket to tie the game at 24. Wooten hit a three and Kaleb Gallimore got a put back to make it 27-26 at the half.
Floyd went up by two as Holman scored on a drive, Gallimore scored inside, and Crawford hit a three to make it 33-31. Laquin Khalil scored inside and Christian and Hall hit jumpers to put the Mustangs up by four.
Holman scored on a drive and made two free throws for the last tie of the game. Josh Leech scored twice inside and Smith hit a three and EastMont led 44-37 at the end of three.
The Mustangs continued with an 8-0 run to start the fourth. Hall and Leech got field goals, Wooten scored on a steal and Leech got another basket to make it 52-37 at 4:55.
Crawford ended the long drought with a full court drive for a score. Brian Ingram and Aaron Lusk got the final baskets for Floyd.
