Two die in weekend auto accidents

TAZEWELL – A pair of county residents died in auto accidents Aug. 3.
Sgt. T.W. Carter of the Virginia State Police said the first accident occurred around 8:35 pm on state route 644, (Horsepen), 1.4 miles west of route 655. He said Stacy Allen Myers, 39, of Abbs Valley died in a single vehicle accident.
Myers’s vehicle went down an embankment and overturned. He said the accident is still under investigation by Trooper D.E. Olinger.
The second accident happened around 9:36 pm on route 16, (Stoney Ridge), and involved two vehicles. He said a 1995 Ford Aspire, driven by Thomas Edward Bowman, Jr. of North Tazewell was traveling south.
He said Bowman’s vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup. Bowman died in the accident and all four passengers in the pickup were injured.
Carter said three of the four passengers in the pickup were transported to Tazewell Community Hospital. The accident was investigated by Trooper R.L. Hamilton.
