Tourney time

The Hogoheegee District and Mountain Empire District boys’ and girls’ basketball tournaments continue throughout this week.
Both districts’ girls’ tourneys began Monday night. The Fort Chiswell and George Wythe girls’ teams both received byes to the semifinal round.
Rural Retreat was scheduled to play Northwood Monday night. The winner of that game advances to the tourney semifinals on Wednesday night at Marion Senior High School. The winner will play Chilhowie at 6 p.m. in the first semifinal game.
The George Wythe girls’ team will play in the other semifinal game on Wednesday night at MSHS. The Lady Maroons will tip-off at approximately 7:30 p.m. against the winner of the Patrick Henry-Holston game.
The semifinal winners will play for the tournament championship at 6 p.m. on Friday at MSHS.
The Fort Chiswell girls’ team will play in the second semifinal game at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday against the winner of the Bland County-Pocahontas game.
The semifinal winners will meet at 6 p.m. on Friday for the tournament championship.
The semifinals and finals of the Mountain Empire District tourney will be held at Fort Chiswell High School.
The Fort Chiswell boys’ team will play in the tourney semifinals at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Thursday against the winner of the Narrows-Grayson County game. That game will be preceded by Galax vs. the winner of the Bland County Pocahontas game, which begins at 6 p.m.
The semifinal winners will meet for the tournament championship on Friday at FCHS.
In the Hogoheegee District boys’ tournament, Rural Retreat is scheduled to play at Patrick Henry at 7:30 p.m. tonight (Tuesday). The winner advances to the tourney semifinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at MSHS. That game will be preceded by the first semifinal game at 6 p.m. with George Wythe taking on the winner of the Holston-Northwood game.
