The Richlands boy’s soccer tam continued to turn some heads with a 3-1 victory over visiting Southwest District foe Carroll County on Monday, March 31 in a match played on the soccer field located behind Southwest Virginia Community College at Wardell.
Just coming off a couple of impressive victories in the Southwest Virginia Cup tournament at Tazewell the previous Saturday, the Blues remained unbeaten on the 2008 season at 3-0 with the SWD victory over the Cavaliers on Monday.
Albert Fajardo put the Tornado on top 1-0 with a header off an assist from Jordan Plaster in the 10th minute of the match.
The Cavaliers drew even with the Blues in the 20th minute, but that would be all the success they could muster on the day.
Logan Lockhart used an assist from Brandon Olmstead to break the 1-1 tie with a goal in the 55th minute and Fajardo added an unassisted insurance goal in the 70th minute to seal the victory.
Chad Cole was outstanding on goal for the Blues stopping 10 of 11 shots on frame by the Cavaliers.
