Anderson
Margaret C. Anderson, 91, of Damascus, died on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Damascus and was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur E. Anderson Sr. in 2006. She was a member of the Damascus Senior Citizens and was also a member of the Damascus First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Alice Lee Dennison and her husband, Bill, of Roanoke; one son, Arthur E. Anderson Jr. and his wife, “Corkie,” of Hertford, N.C.; four grandchildren; two great- granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 25, at the graveside at Sunset Memorial Park, Damascus, with Pastor John Davis, CLP, officiating.

Cregger
Earl Martin “Butch” Cregger Jr., 61, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
He was a lifelong resident of Saltville. He was a loving husband, father, and granddaddy.
Survivors include wife, Mary Ann Cregger; daughter, Tammy Cregger and husband, Eric Remines of Roanoke; stepson, William Townsend of Hopewell; granddaughter, Avery Remines; four step-grandsons; two sisters, Teresa DeBord and Pat Venable of Saltville; three brothers, Eddie Cregger, Roger Cregger and Bobby Cregger, all of Saltville; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 27, at the Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville with the Rev. Shirley Carter officiating.
The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Riffey
Della Blevins Riffey, 84, of Damascus, died on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton, Tennessee.
She was a native of Grayson County and was a daughter of the late Dewey and Mary Blevins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Garland L. Riffey.
She was a member of the Whitetop Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Evon Riffey Trivette and her husband, Lloyd, of Shady Valley, Tenn., and Garlynn Riffey Miller and her husband, Denton, of Mountain City, Tenn.; three sisters, Stella Blevins, of Palatka, Fla., Margaret Burcham of Galax and Ann Edwards of Whitetop; three grandchildren, Lloyd Trivette Jr. and his wife, Tina, Steven Trivette and his wife, Leslie, and Lisa Greene and her husband, Larry; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, September 27, at Whitetop Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Williams and the Rev. T. A. Pennington officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Blevins Cemetery, Whitetop.
The family received friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the funeral service at Whitetop Baptist Church.
