Barton
Patricia Lynn Barton, 47, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at home with her family after a long battle with illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd “Bo” and Sarah Gowins, and her brother-in-law, Leon Wright.
She grew up in Marion, achieving degrees from Wytheville Community College, Virginia Intermont College, and an MBA from King College. She worked her entire career at Brunswick Defense, Marion Composites, and General Dynamics. She was a sincere, thoughtful person who spent her life helping and caring for others. She was a believer in our lord Jesus Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Greg Barton of Marion; two daughters and one son-in-law, Cary and Justin Lampkins and Erika Barton, all of Marion; and one sister, Brenda Wright of Dry Fork.
Funeral services were held Tuesday evening, Sept. 11, 2007, at Seaver-Brown Chapel. The Rev. Neville Mozingo officiated the services. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery.

Blevins
Harold L. Blevins, 60, of Bear, Del., and Windsbach, Germany, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007.
His parents, Oscar and Mabel Blevins of Marion, preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Vietnam and other places. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War. He grew up in Marion and attended Marion High School.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Blevins of Windsbach, Germany; one daughter, Maja Blevins of Windsbach, Germany; one son, Norman Blevins of Windsbach, Germany; five siblings, Louise and Junior Woodie of Elkton, Md., Joann and Robert Johnson of Lansing, N.C., Janice Taylor of Elkton, Md., the Rev. Duane and Dawn Blevins of Danville and Dean and Lucy Blevins of Kissimmee, Fla.; and also many nieces and nephews both in the United States and Germany.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Bradley’s Funeral Home Chapel in Marion. Interment will follow in the Barr Cemetery in Whitetop with full military honors rendered by the Francis Marion V.F.W. Post #4667.

Cook
Roy Wayne Cook, 45, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at Country Meadows Adult Living in Meadowview.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Annie Cook.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Rachel Cook of Glade Spring; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sis and Jerry Johnson, Lynn and Charles Chapman and Brenda and Joe Graham, all of Glade Spring; sister-in-law, Jane Cook of Glade Spring; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning, Sept. 11, 2007, at Henderson Funeral Home. The Rev. Johnny Spencer officiated the services. Burial followed in the Baptist Cemetery in Glade Spring.
The family received friends Monday evening, Sept. 10, 2007, at the funeral home.

Greer
Franklin “Frankie” David Greer, 52, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007.
He was born in Michigan to the late Alexander Gordon and Eacklene Elizabeth Greer. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Danny Ray Greer; sister, Connie Poston; and his father-in-law, Jimmy McKinnon.
He was a wonderful husband, father and brother, and was a friend to all. He loved fishing and golfing, but most of all he loved his lord Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Greer; one son, Travis Greer of the home; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Diane Greer and Randy and Karen Greer, all of Marion; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and David Mumpower of Dublin and Pam and Luke Ratliff of Chilhowie; mother and father-in-law, Phyllis and Bill Sutherland of Meadowview; mother-in-law, Jill McKinnon of Marion; sisters-in-law, Sandy Greer and Karen and Tim Martin, all of Chilhowie; brothers-in-law, Randy and Jodie Sutherland of Bristol, Tenn., Keith McKinnon and Kevin McKinnon, both of Marion; special friend, Michael Scroggs; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday evening, Sept. 10, 2007, at Bradley’s Funeral Home Chapel in Marion. The Rev. Mike Haulsee and the Rev. T.D. Burgess officiated the services. Graveside services were held Tuesday morning, Sept. 11, 2007, at Mt. Rose Cemetery.

Morefield
Kathy Morefield, 55, of Damascus, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County and was the daughter of the late Roy and Juanita Morefield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Barlow.
She was retired from Greendale Home for the Aged in October 2000 after 19 years of service.
Survivors include one sister, Verna Smith of Damascus; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Kathy Morefield of Meadowview and Ed and Mae Morefield of Damascus; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Carolyn Pauley and Susie Smith.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, Sept. 10, 2007, at the graveside at Sunset Memorial Park. The Rev. Gary Ritchie officiated the services.

Osborne
Tina Cole Osborne, 42, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn.
She was a teacher at Northwood High School in Saltville, a former teacher at Keystone Youth Center in Marion, and a volunteer at the Marion Recreation Department.
She was preceded in death by a brother, B.J. Cole.
Survivors include her husband, Chuck Osborne of Marion; two daughters, Tosha N. Carver of Princeton, W.Va., and Savannah B. Osborne of Marion; one granddaughter, Shaylee Cornett; her parents, Bernard and Janice Cole of Bluefield, W.Va.; two sisters, Virginia Hicks of Highpoint, N.C., and Kim Wiley of Princeton, W.Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Dee Dee Cole of Beaver, W.Va.; her husband’s parents, Jim and Lena Osborne of Sugar Grove; and several nieces, nephews, special friends, and neighbors.
Funeral services were held Sunday evening, Sept. 9, 2007, at Seaver-Brown Chapel. The Rev. Mike Sage officiated the services. Graveside services were held at Burton’s Chapel Cemetery in Grayson County Monday morning, Sept. 10, 2007.

Overbay
Annie M. Callahan Overbay died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007.
She departed this life at home surrounded by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, and two sons, Barney and Jimmy.
She faithfully attended Faith Life Baptist Church in Montvale, and loved her church family. She enjoyed attending gospel singings with Jacob, cooking for anyone who crossed her threshold, gardening, sewing, crocheting and bowling (which she did until age 85 with scores often over 100). Her home is a treasure chest of family pictures and testaments to her faith. She has left her family a legacy of love, faith, and lessons too numerous to mention.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Riley and Anne Overbay and Harold and Oksun Overbay; her daughters and sons-in-law, Willie Mae Grace, Euna (Sissie) Deaton, Mary “Bug” Stamper, Veneta and Wes Wray; her chosen daughter, Margie Overbay; two brothers, John Callahan and Zeke Callahan; 22 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Blossom.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 11, 2007, at the Bradley’s Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Johnny Basham officiated the services. Interment followed in Roundhill Cemetery.

Wix
James L. Wix, 61, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Alma Wix; three brothers, Claude Jr., Doug, and Jackie Wix; one grandson, Josh King and his former wife, Margaret Keen Wix. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam conflict.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Shonda Wix, of the home and Jimmy and Jeannie Wix of North Carolina; one daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Will Strouth of Chilhowie; one sister and brother-in-law, Eula and Robert Hall of Newton, N.C.; special friend, Hope Compton of Marion; sister-in-law, Dreama Wix of Chilhowie; several nieces and nephews; 10 grandchildren, Jimmy, Michael, Tiffany, Shelley, Devin, A.J., Nathan, Autumn, Shimera, and Egan.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, Sept. 10, 2007, in the D.R. Henderson Funeral. Burial followed in the Elizabeth Cemetery with the Saltville V.F.W. Post #7328 conducting military rites.
