Davidson
Ruby Eleanor Davidson, 76, died Sunday, May, 4, 2008.
She attended Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Francis Surber, brother, Charles Surber, and great-grandson, Chase Myers.
Survivors include her husband, James L. Davidson; one son, Albert Davidson and wife, Annette, of Marion; two daughters, Lois Billings and husband, Gene, of Marion and Barbara Herzig and husband, Tommy, of Williamsburg; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, in Mount Pleasant Cemetery with the Rev. Don Wyatt officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Wednesday morning at the funeral home prior to the services.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Garrett
Ruth W. Garrett, 91, of Damascus died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Abingdon Manor Home for the Aged in Abingdon.
She was a native of Washington County. She was a member of Laurel Community Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter V. Garrett.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, May 5, in the Garrett Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Fred Minnick, minister, officiating. The committal service and interment were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus.
Flowers were accepted or contributions can be made to the Laurel Community Church, c/o Judy Cornett, 22129 Fisher Hollow Rd., Damascus, VA 24236.
The family received friends from 6 until 7:45 p.m. Monday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

Greer
Glynis S. (Mitzie) Carter Greer died on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl K. Carter, maternal grandmother, Beatrice Keith, paternal grandmother, Susie C. Sessor, and grandfather, Raymond M. Carter.
Survivors include husband, Ernest W. (Tuffy) Greer Sr.; one son, Ernest W. (TJ) Greer Jr.; stepdaughter, Misti Greer Havener; two grandchildren, Marra and Stephen Havener; mother, Shirley Keith Carter; one sister, Suzanne Carter Sword; friend, Markus Abramson of Leesburg; and a host of close uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends, including Morgan Burgess. She was a friend to all and loved by many.
She was a faithful member of the Saltville Church of the Nazarene since the age of 8, served on the Church board, and taught Sunday school since the age of 14.
She graduated from R.B. Worthy High School in 1974 and attended VHCC. Most of her career was spent at the First National Bank and its successors in Saltville.
She was active in many community services, volunteering at the Museum of the Middle Appalachians, helping at the Saltville Medical Center, serving on the Labor Day Events Committee for the town of Saltville, and serving as treasurer and as a board member for the Bread of Life Food Pantry.
Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, May 5, at the Saltville Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. David Mumpower officiating. Interment was conducted on Tuesday, May 6, at 11 a.m. at Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville.
The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 5, at the Saltville Church of the Nazarene.
The family suggests donations be made to the Bread of Life Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1284, Saltville, VA 24370. Flowers were accepted.

Tickle
LaQuetta Diann “Metheny” Tickle, 41, of Rural Retreat, died Friday, May 2, 2008 at her home.
She was born in Hanford, California, on Sept. 28, 1966. She was an active member of the Rural Retreat Pentecostal Holiness Church, choir director, founder and principal of the Appalachian Christian Academy.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Ray Metheny.
Survivors include, her husband, Benjamin T. Tickle III; three children, Benjamin T. Tickle IV, corporal, U.S. Army, Iraq, and Darah N. Tickle, and Jonathon A. Tickle, both of the home; her parents, Pastor Harold and Barbara Metheny; one sister, Kimberly Jackson and husband, Edward, all of Duncan, Oklahoma; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Benjamin T., Jr. and Margaret Tickle; sister-in-law, Tonya Myers and husband, Duane, all of Richmond; nieces and nephews, Breanna and Alyssa Jackson and Rachael, Faith, Liam and Sarah Myers; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Rural Retreat Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Roger Crigger, the Rev. Mike Brennen, and the Rev. Roger Boyer officiating. Interment followed in the Mountain View Cemetery in Rural Retreat.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at Rural Retreat Pentecostal Holiness Church or at the home at any time.
