Edmonds
Boyd W. “Hick” Edmonds, 94, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Smyth County Community Hospital.
He was born and raised in the Lick Creek Community in Smyth County. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the European Campaign as a medic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alice Edmonds, and four brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Atkins Edmonds of Atkins; two stepsons, John Atkins and Randy Atkins, both of Atkins; three step-daughters, Jeffie Campbell and husband, Bill, of Marion, Cindy Sneed and husband, John, of Spring, Texas, and Anne Reedy and husband, Jack, of Houston, Texas; one sister-in-law, Juanita Edmonds of Christiansburg; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 28, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating.
Burial will follow in Chatham Hill Cemetery in Chatham Hill.
The family received friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.

Frye
Daphne G. “Granny” Frye, 77, died Monday, June 23, 2008.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart M. Frye.
Survivors include two sons, Roger “P-nut” Frye and wife, Diane, of Saltville, Jerry “Byrd” Frye and wife, Cathy, of Saltville; godson, Kenny Gilbert of Saltville; goddaughter, Nanine F. Woodward of Saltville; brother, Ralph Gilbert of Saltville; six grandchildren, Kristi Sumpter, Kevin Frye, Melanie Bumgarner, Jake Frye, Haylee Frye, and Karlee Frye; two great-grandchildren, Sam Sumpter and Delaney Bumgarner; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Henderson’s Funeral Home.
Graveside services were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville.
The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday prior to services at the funeral home.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville was in charge of arrangements.
Poston
James Ray “Sonny” Poston, 69, died June 23, 2008 in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy “Renie” Poston, parents, John and Mary Belle Poston, brother, Bill Poston, and sister Joyce Poston.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie and Jim Sawyer of Chilhowie; a son, Mickey Poston of Marion; grandchildren, Adam Poston, Amy Sawyer, Ryan Sawyer, and Zachary Poston; one great-grandchild, Conner Poston; a sister, Martha and Charles Evans of Marion; brothers, Wayne and Peggy Poston, George and Sherry Poston, and Johnny and Shirley Poston, all of Marion; a very special mother-in-law, Pauline Kestner of Saltville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. at the Chilhowie First Church of God on Wednesday, June 25, prior to the funeral service at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Bobby Dunn officiating.
Graveside services were conducted at the Walker’s Creek Presbyterian Cemetery on Thursday, June 26, at 11 a.m.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
