Booth
Robert Neal Booth, 62, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, in Marion.
He was born in Washington County on Sept.14, 1945, to Thelma Sturgill Booth and the late Glen Booth. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Glen T. Booth. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard.
Survivors include one son, Chris Booth; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kelly and Andrew Swike and Faith Griffiths; his sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Archie Young of Marion; one granddaughter, Carlie Swike; a special friend, Sue Abel; special nephew, Archie Young Jr.; and several other loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday evening, Dec. 3, 2007, from the Bradley’s Funeral Home Chapel in Marion. The Rev. Don Mutter officiated the services. A graveside service was held Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 4, 2007, at the Mountain Home National Cemetery with full military honors.

Hawthorne
Violet A. Hawthorne, 71, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at her home.
She was the widow Thomas William (Bill) Hawthorne.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Greer of Moneta and Stanley Greer of Chilhowie; two daughters, Sylvia Smith of Chilhowie and Kathy McGhee of Saltville; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Hampton of Abingdon and Gene Hampton of Stafford; and three sisters, Louise Fletcher of Port Clinton, Ohio, Ruby Hart of Abingdon and Dorothy Hart of Taylorsville, N.C.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Dec. 2, 2007, at Williams Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor John Massey officiated the services. Burial followed in the Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery in Chilhowie.
The family received friends Sunday afternoon, Dec. 2, 2007, prior to the funeral services.
Williams Funeral Home in Chilhowie was in charge of arrangements.
Hull
Margaret Douglas Hull, 102, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at the Glenaire Retirement Home in Cary, N.C.
She was the daughter of Wythe M. Hull and Clyde Carlock Hull of Marion. She taught for some years in the Smyth County School System. At the time of World War II, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked for the State Department and the National Security Agency. She painted as an avocation and won many honors in the Washington, D.C., area for her work, where she was a member of The Arts Club of Washington D.C.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Hull.
Survivors include six nephews and nieces, including Ellen Hull Keever of Durham, N. C., Martha H. Copenhaver of Marion, David C. Hull of Houston, Texas, Elizabeth Hull Roberts of Longview, Texas, Richard H. Hull of Jacksonville, Fla., and W. Wythe Hull of Loveland, Colo.
Burial will be in Marion at Rose Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at 11 a.m.
