Blevins
Esther B. Blevins, 89, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie.
She was the widow of Charles M. (Gate) Blevins Sr. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, O.G. Blevins Sr. and Laura Widener Blevins; one brother, O.G. Blevins Jr.; and one sister, Leola Sturgill.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles M. Jr. and Jo Ann Blevins of Bristol and Toby S. Blevins of Chilhowie; three grandchildren, Jason Blevins, Amy Puckett and Todd S. Blevins; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Puckett and Ben Puckett; one brother, Harold Blevins of Columbia, S.C.; and one sister-in-law, Marie Blevins of Damascus.
Funeral services were conducted Friday evening, Nov. 30, 2007, at Chilhowie Baptist Church. The Rev. Chuck Herrell and the Rev. Cecil Sturgill officiated the services. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at the Grosses Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grosses Creek Cemetery Fund, c/o Jackie Blevins, 250 Flatwood Acres Rd., Chilhowie, Va. 24319.
The family received friends Friday evening, Nov. 30, 2007, prior to the funeral services.

Cline
Patty Argyle Cline, 75, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007.
She was born Dec. 2, 1931 in Sabine, W.Va., to the late Hazel Blevins and Mary Frances Brooks Blevins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Johnny Lee Cline, and three brothers, Robert J. Blevins, Jerry C. Blevins and Kenneth P. Blevins.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Bobby Leon Cline; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry W. and Noemi Perry and Jackie D. and Thelma Perry, and Timothy B. Cline; four daughters and sons-in-law, Inda Sue Olinger, Brenda J. and Jackie Wingler, Teresa G. and Rick Barlow, Robin J. and Mike Lambert; two sisters, Nancy Barber of Ridgeway, S.C., and Jane Green of Lexington, N.C.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mae and Paul Vandergriff of Atkins, James G. Cline of Marion, Gene E. and Magdalene Cline of Chilhowie, and Charlotte Cline of Marion; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, from the Bradley’s Funeral Home Chapel in Marion with the Rev. Mike Sage and the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Interment will follow in the Roundhill Cemetery.

Hall
Lester Ray Hall, 71, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at Hospice House of Bristol, Tenn.
He was born in Smyth County on Feb. 5, 1936, to the late Noah Lee and Henrietta Hall. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn, Eugene, and Garland Hall.
He was a member of Furnace Hill Lutheran Church. Initially, he was active in youth ministries and later did interim lay ministry for the Rev. Kenneth Killinger.
He graduated from Marion Senior High School in 1955 and attended Washington and Lee University. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory & Henry College and a Masters Degree at East Tennessee State University. His teaching career began in Norfolk and included Bristol, Virginia. He served as principal at Highland View Elementary School and Administrative Assistant at Bristol, Va., school board office. He retired as assistant superintendent of Bristol City Schools in 1991.
His hobbies included traveling throughout the U.S. and Europe. He was an avid photographer and shared many of his experiences captured on film with family and friends.
Survivors include three brothers and sisters-in law, Garnett and Jean Hall, and Joseph and Margaret Hall, all of Marion, and Marvin and Marylyn Hall of Newbury Park, Calif.; one sister and brother-in-law, Carrie and Graham Bourhill, M.D., of Marion; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Robert Meade and family of Bristol.
Funeral services were held at Seaver-Brown Chapel Friday evening, Nov. 30, 2007. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at 11 a.m. in Rose Lawn Cemetery.

Holmes
Margaret Taylor Holmes, 92, widow of the late Patrick Campbell Holmes, died Sunday Nov. 25, 2007, at her son’s home in Virginia Beach.
She was a member of the Crabtree Chapel Methodist Church. She was a retired postmaster of 29 years in Tannersville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ovella Taylor; daughter, Geraldine Eisenburger; son, James Patrick Holmes; grandson, Jimmy Holmes; brothers, Robert Taylor, Oscar Taylor and Curtis “Dump” Taylor; and sisters, Pauline Holmes, Lillian Taylor, Thelma Pace, and Jean Hilt.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Paul Campbell and Patsy Holmes of Virginia Beach; son-in-law, Mike Eisenburger of Virginia Beach; sister, Caroline Pratt of Rich Valley; four grandchildren, Bobby Holmes, Jason Holmes, Kristyn Holmes and Michael Eisenburger; five great-grandchildren, Levi and Brittnie Holmes, Christopher Williams, Ethan Eisenburger and Sean Eisenburger; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Friday morning, Nov. 30, 2007 at Crabtree Chapel Methodist Church. The Rev. Donnie Lee Bailey officiated the services. Burial followed in the Mount Rose Cemetery.

Kell
George Adam Kell II, 40, of Fayetteville, N.C., died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at his residence.
Survivors include his parents, George A. Kell Sr. and Willine Kell; his son, George Kell III; brother, Mike Kell; and sister, Rebecca Kell.
Funeral services were held Friday evening, Nov. 30, 2007, at Hamilton-Porter Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held at a later date.

Louthen
Ruth Corvin Louthen, 86, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at her home.
She retired from the Southwestern State Hospital after 28 years of service. She loved quilting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Katherine Corvin; two brothers, B. A. Corvin and Roy Corvin; one sister, Mary Alice Corvin Jones; two sons, Charles H. Louthen and Calvin A. Louthen; two stepsons, Thomas W. Louthen Jr. and Billy C. Louthen; and three stepdaughters, Virginia Wright, Alma Lanier, and Jean Watkins.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Alice K. and Jack Berry of Chilhowie and Patricia L. and Charles Vanhoy of Marion; three sons and daughters-in-law, Willis E. and Dora Louthen of Wellsburg, W.Va., Samuel L. and Jackie Louthen, and Cecil “Donnie” and Annie Louthen, all of Sugar Grove; one stepdaughter, Mary Ruth Johnson of Salem; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Nov. 30, 2007, at Seaver-Brown Chapel. The Rev. Mark Lundy and Larry Smith officiated the services. Burial followed at Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wythe County.

Shupe
Mary Katherine Myers Shupe, 84, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, in Wythe County Community Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kent and Etta Myers; her husbands, Joel J. Shupe and Garvin Junior “June” Shupe; three sons, George W. Shupe, Joel J. “J.J.” Shupe, and Bill Shupe; one sister, Nora Atwell; and one sister-in-law, Peggy Myers.
Survivors include two sons and five daughters-in-law, John and Susie Shupe, Mike and Dorie Shupe, and Lynn Shupe, all of Ceres, Donna Shupe of Marion, and Betty Shupe of Atkins; one daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Bill Cregger of Wytheville; one foster son, Billy Ellison of Marion; 26 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, one very special great-great-granddaughter, Alexia Cregger and one very special great-great-grandson, Bryan Cregger; two brothers and sister-in-law, Wallace and Lettie Myers and Elmer Myers, all of Rich Valley; two sisters, Edith Gillespie of Marion and Bonnie Alexander Somervell of Saltville; and one brother-in-law, Fred Shupe and wife, Mary of Maryland.
Funeral services were held Friday morning, Nov. 30, 2007, at Zion United Methodist Church in Nebo. The Rev. Steve Hutton and Brother Jerry Yates officiated the services. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
