Bartlett
William Keith Bartlett, 88, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Lakeside Hospital in Bastrop, Texas.
He was raised in Trappe, Md., where he had been employed by Golf Oil Corp. He was active in area organizations like the Lions Club, the volunteer fire department and he was the oldest Grand Master Mason in the United States. He received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Maryland and he received his master’s degree at the University of California at Redlands. He also played baseball in the minor leagues. He was the nephew of Hall of Famer Frank “Homerun” Baker. He later moved his family to California, where he was employed by the state of California. He was a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a high councilman, bishop and branch president in the church. He later retired in 1987 in Needles, Calif., where he was highly dedicated to the Boy Scouts of America, earning the prestigious Silver Beaver Award. In 2004, he moved to Texas to spend his last years with his son, John. He was known as a man who loved all people; he will be missed by family and friends worldwide.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Reva Evelyn Baker Bartlett; his great-grandson, Charles William Cregger Jr.; and his great-granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Christensen.
Survivors include six children, Jeanette Smith of Paris, Ill., Kathleen Nicholson of Marion, Bonnie Clements and husband, Randy, of Tula Rosa, N.M., Marilyn Brown of Columbus, Ohio, William Keith Bartlett Jr. and wife, Tina, of Boise, Idaho, and John Bartlett and wife, Guadalupe, of Smithville, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, April 16, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bastrop. He was a veteran of World War II and received a military burial with honors at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Killeen, Texas.
Services were conducted at the cemetery on Thursday, April 17.

Boatwright
Lois Harmon Boatwright, 96, of Frederick, Md., died Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center, Frederick.
She was the wife of Deedie Andrew Boatwright, who died in 1954.
She was born March 17, 1911, in Nebo, a daughter of the late Rush and Ada Paxton Harmon.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include a nephew, Hayes Harmon and his wife, Sharon, of Frederick with whom she resided with for a number of years. She then moved to Citizens where she was cared for by her four nieces, Beth Baker, Chris Harmon, Linda Harmon and Loretta Hubble; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard, Albert, Kent and William “Bill” Basil Harmon.
Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Home, P.A. 1201 N. Market St., Frederick was in charge of arrangements.
Inurnment will be at a later date in Zion Methodist Cemetery, Nebo, at the convenience of the family.

Chapman
Paul Eugene Chapman, 63, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at his home in Marion.
He is a veteran of the Vietnam conflict, having served in the Army.
Survivors include his companion, Janet Moffatt of Marion; one daughter, Crystal Stevens of Charleston, W.Va.; one son, Tony Chapman of Charleston; two sisters, Wanda Estep of Florida and Juanita Fitzwater of West Virginia; one brother, Jay Chapman of Alabama; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews
At his wishes, Mr. Chapman was cremated.

Cook
Herbert E. Cook, 85, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
He was born in Washington County on April 14, 1923, the son of the late Marshall Carl and Ruth Widener Cook.
He served in the U.S Army during World War II in the 17th Airborne Division Company B, 194th Battalion from April 1943 until January 1946. He was a member of Wright’s Chapel Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, June Sutherland Cook; and two brothers, Clayton Cook and Ernest Cook.
Survivors include his son Joe Cook; his wife, Donna of Damascus; one granddaughter, Tiffany Ratcliff and her husband, Scott, of Abingdon; one grandson, Josh Cook and his wife, Paula, of Chilhowie; three great-grandchildren, Eli Ratcliff, Caleb Cook and Leah Cook; four sisters, Martha Dolinger of Wideners Valley, Rebecca Heath of Meadowview, Eleanor Dolinger of Wideners Valley and Mary Thomas of Abingdon; three brothers, Vernon Cook of Widener’s Valley, Charles Cook and his wife, Doris, of Damascus and Robert Cook and his wife, Lorraine, of Damascus; three brothers-in-law, Sam Widener and Amy, of Damascus, Jerry Widener and his wife, Eula, of Damascus and P.G. Widener and his wife, Dawn, of Wideners Valley; and several nieces and nephews; a very special friend, Elizabeth Moore, of Glade Spring.
Funeral services were conducted April 16 in Garrett Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Fred Minnick officiating.
The committal service and interment were conducted April 17 at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus with military graveside rites conducted by the Highlands Fellowship Veterans Honor Guard.

Justin Lee Martin, 22, died Thursday, April 17, 2008.
