Piney Woods Philosopher: Geting out of Fay’s way

Well, thought Piney and She Who Must Be Obeyed, the sub-tropics are at it again!
After three years of no hurricanes in Florida, at last a storm was brewing this morning and had crossed Cuba, causing a lot of damage, and already, there were rains in Key West.
The proposed path of the storm (the forecasters had a bad record… about three-quarters of their predictions were wrong!) was up the coast of Florida and to make a main hit on Tampa, where at present, Piney and She Who Must Be Obeyed made their temporary home.
They had memories of hurricanes of some years ago in Florida, when She’s mother had been alive, and they had escaped from a storm and went to a higher ground motel for the night. They had returned the next day to find Piney’s cabin cruiser sunk. They raised it, and it was sunk a second time by another hurricane three days later!
Piney gave it to the sea-scouts!
But today, Piney and She packed the car with food, clothes, and the cat Aristide in her cat-taxi and headed north to the safety in the deep woods of extended family daughter Jean White at the Dome House.
Jean would not be there, she living in Orlando, but the history of the Buckminster Fuller Dome house had been to ride well in hurricanes and the live oak forest about it helped also.
But maybe the weather people were just scared again, and there would only be a little wind and rain.  In any case, the two and cat would be snug 60 miles from their Tampa home.
