Patrick Henry knocks Rural Retreat out of tournament

The Rural Retreat Indians ended their season Tuesday night at Patrick Henry. The Indians went down 6-1.
Wyatte Pickett pitched the complete game for RR racking up eight strikeouts. He also had one of RR’s six hits. Will Whalen smacked two hits and an RBI for the Tribe.
Pickett singled to right with two outs to get the Indians going in the first. Whalen followed with a base on balls. They were left on base when Travis Sims went down swinging.
PH went down in order in the home half of the inning. David Harmon caught a fly in short stop position. Pickett set Groves down on strikes and Trey Huffard (second base) tossed to Whalen at first for out number three. The inning ended scoreless.
Andy Chrisley (DH) and Cliff Cole grounded to the shortstop for the first two outs of the second. Jason Jarvis smacked one to deep right, but it was hauled in for out three.
PH used three hits and took advantage of several RR errors to score four. Pickett struck two batters out and Jarvis threw to Whalen for the required three. After two PH led 4-0.
Isaac Hayes went down swinging for the first out of the third. Harmon took a ball to the foot to reach first. Daron Vaught netted RR’s second hit advancing Harmon. Pickett took first with a fielder’s choice that sent Harmon to third and Vaught to the dug out. Whalen got his first hit of the night sending Harmon across the plate for RR’s only score. Pickett was caught in a fast and furious run down for the final out.
The Rebels’ Wyatt took first to lead off. Counts popped up to Harmon. Hamm followed with a smack to Huffard who took Wyatt out at second and turned the double play with Whalen to catch Hamm at first. The score reamined PH - 4 RR-0.
Sims and Chrisley singled for the Tribe to start the fourth. Cole laid down a beautiful sacrifice bunt to advance the runners. Jarvis popped out to the shortstop and a strike out added up to three outs.
PH got a runner on with a walk to open its half. Pickett and Whalen picked him off at first for out number one. Pickett set the next two batters down with strikes.
The Indians went down in order with a caught tipped ball on the third strike and two ground outs to the shortstop.
PH added its last two runs in its half of the fifth. Pickett added another strike out to his total for out number one. Wyatt took first when catcher interference was called. Huffard and Harmon took him out at second with a fielder’s choice off the bat of Counts. Pickett and Whalen picked off the second runner of the night to end the inning. PH led 6-1 after five.
Whalen led off with a single to right. C.J. Mulkey came in as a pinch runner. Sims advanced Mulkey to second with a sacrifice. Chrisley moved Mulkey to third with another sacrifice. Cole took the pitcher to a full count before racking up the third out, stranding Mulkey at third. Pickett recorded two strike outs and a toss to first to prevent PH from scoring. The score remained 6-1.
Jarvis led off for the Tribe in the seventh with a single to left. Hayes and Harmon went down swinging. Daron Vaught smacked one to center for the final out of the season.
