Ray Edward Bishop
Ray Edward Bishop, 56, of Marvin, died Aug. 5 at his home.
He was born Oct. 9, 1951, to his parents, the late Eulon Bishop and Vancie Justice Bishop.
He was the husband of Barbara Wilson Bishop, a retired employee for C.A. Ramey Trucking Co., a member of Jesus Temple Church and a member of Masonic Lodge #375 Pikeville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Olive Bishop, and three brothers, Eulon Jr. Bishop, Raymond Bishop and Herman Bishop.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: son, Sherman Ray Bishop of Pounding Mill; daughter, Meagan Wilson Jackson of Fayetteville, N.C.; brother, Hubert Carl Bishop of Harmon; sisters, Vercie Hunt of Homer, Mich., Edna Fuller and Earnestine Lester, both of Fed’s Creek, Ky., Linda Cantrell of Somerset, Ky.; and a host of loving family and friends.
The funeral was conducted Aug. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home in Pikeville, Ky.
Burial followed at R.H. Ratliff Cemetery in Shelbiana, Ky.
Special services were held Aug. 6 and 7 at 7 p.m.
Thomas Edward Bowman, Jr.
Thomas Edward Bowman, Jr., 40, of the Mudfork area of North Tazewell, died Aug. 3 from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Born Feb. 17, 1968 at Bluefield, W.Va., he was a son of Dorothy Riley Bowman of Mudfork and the late Thomas Edward Bowman, Sr.
He was a fun loving and happy person and he loved everybody.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Alonzo Bowman.
Additional survivors: sisters, Brenda Sue McDougald, Wanda Faye Hawkins and Opal Darlene Bowman; brothers, Eddie Wayne Bowman and Kenneth Ray Bowman, all of Mudfork; eight nieces and nephews; and eight grand nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Mudfork Church of Christ with Johnny Elmore officiating.
Burial followed at the Sluss Cemetery at Mudfork.

Theodore Thomas “Teddy” Eastridge
Theodore Thomas “Teddy” Eastridge, 83, of North Tazewell, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, while a patient at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem, Aug. 8.
Born Aug. 22, 1924 at Tazewell, he was a son of the late Charlie and Mary Bogle Eastridge.
He was a loving father and grandfather; a generous man who never met a stranger. He was willing to help anyone with anything at any time, if he was able and lived his life by the motto, “If you can’t say anything good about anyone, don’t say anything at all.” He was a member of the Mudfork Church of Christ. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, and a proud member of the Barns-Beavers VFW Post #7136 in Tazewell. He worked the majority of his life in construction for Beavers and Cecil.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha M. Wright Eastridge; six sisters, Lou Ella Eastridge, Ulla Bell Eastridge, Corella Sparks, Rebecca Eastridge, Bea Whitt, and Lettie Ruble; one brother, Luther Eastridge; and two sons-in-law, James “Jim” Miller and Junior Fletcher.
Survivors: daughters, Frances Brooks and husband, Mike, of North Tazewell, with whom he had made his home for the past ten years, Lou Ella Fletcher of Falls Mills, Mary Miller of Swords Creek; son, Junior Lee Eastridge and wife, Connie, of Adria; sister, Virginia Rose Keith of North Tazewell; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Aug. 11 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with Johnny Elmore officiating.
Entombment followed at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, Va.
Members of the Barns-Beavers VFW Post #7136 conducted military graveside rites.
Herbert George
Herbert George, 86, of Raven, died Aug. 5 in Claypool Hill, following a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 21, 1921 in Lawrence County, Ky., and was the son of the late James and Virginia Dare Allen George, both former Whitewood natives.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a retired coal miner from Pittston Coal Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hazel George.
Survivors: sons, Roger Paul George and wife, Carol, of Clinton, Tenn., James Curtis (J.C.) George and wife, Carolyn, of Gaines, Mich.; sisters, Nancy White of Flint, Mich., Julia Lowe and husband, Fred, of Ohio; brother, Garland George and wife, Vivian, of Jewell Ridge; special friends, Joyce White and Billie Wilson; grandchildren, Paul Eugene George, Shawn George, Michelle L. George and Michael George; great grandchild, Kaidance George; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. Aug. 8 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands with the Rev. Earl Cole officiating.
Interment followed in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
Delores Gray Griffith
Delores Gray Griffith, 58, of Raven, died Aug. 7 at her home.
Born in Tazewell County, she was the daughter of Carl G. Elswick and the late Peggy Sue Elswick.
She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a full time homemaker and loved to spend time crocheting and making crafts for her loved ones. She was well known for her caring spirit. She was always taking care of others and putting them first instead of herself. She loved spending time with her friends and neighbors, who were very kind to her. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Billips.
Those who survive to carry on her spirit are: son, Daniel C. Billips and wife, Angela, of Raven; father, Carl C. Elswick of Raven; sisters, Rhonda Elswick and Patty Smith, both of Tazewell; brother, Edward Ray Elswick of Raven; and grandchildren, Nikita Billips and Marcus Smith.
A celebration of life service will be held by the family at a future date.

The Rev. Virgil
Nedium Hale
The Rev. Virgil N. Hale, 89, a retired pastor and a member of Holston Conference United Methodist Church, died Aug. 4 at his home in Columbus, Ohio, where he had lived since moving from Lebanon in 1998.
He was born Nov. 4, 1918 at Dye, Buchanan County, to Frazier Stewart Hale and Addah Virginia Breeding Hale.
He attended Hale School at Clell and graduated from Honaker High School. World War II interrupted his college years at Emory and Henry College. He entered the U.S. Army and served in a Cavalry unit before being shipped to the Pacific Theatre as a military police officer where he attained the rank of sergeant.
After the war, he returned to E&H and in 1947 earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree. After Emory and Henry, he taught school at Lebanon and Honaker High Schools in Russell County and served as football coach at Honaker.
After two years, he enrolled in the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta and received a Bachelor of Divinity and a Master of Theology Degree.
He joined Holston Conference and became an elder in the church in 1953. He served 33 churches, many of them circuits, during his 30 years in Holston Conference. His first church as a lay pastor was the Raven (Va.) Circuit (Millers Chapel, Dye Chapel, Davis Chapel and Raven). His first Conference assignment was the Dunlap (Tenn.) Circuit (Church Hill, Welch’s Chapel, Dunlap) where he also was a full-time principal at Sunny Point Elementary School. His next assignment was Golda Memorial, Kingsport; Addilynn Memorial, Bristol; Bridal Creek (Va.) Circuit (Bethany, Flat Rock, Trinity, and Bridal Creek near Independence, Va.).
From there he was transferred to Rocky Gap (Va.) Circuit (Sunny Point, Round Bottom, Pine Chapel, Green Valley, Round Mountain, Basset and Rocky Gap); White Pine (Tenn.) Circuit (Beth Carr and White Pine); Strawberry Plains and Pleasant Hill (Knoxville); Cassidy at Indian Springs, Tenn., where he also worked as a substitute teacher at Central High School in Kingsport.
Ridgedale in Chattanooga was the next move then to Elk Garden (Va.) Circuit (Dennison, Loop, Elk Garden at Rosedale); Tazewell, Va., Concord Circuit (Burkes Garden and Mount Olivet); Bascom, Lebanon. He also served three years as chaplain at Mattie Williams Hospital at Richlands.
In Columbus, Pastor Hale attended Walnut Hill United Methodist Church in Hamilton Township. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
He was preceded in death by two younger brothers, Garsel Edwin Hale, 2006, and Columbus Hale, 1923.
Survivors: wife of 62 years, Mary Elizabeth Bausell Hale; sons, Virgil N. (Denise), of Nanango, Australia, James F. (Linda), of Grove City, Ohio, Gerald N. (Carolyn) of Lebanon, Thomas V. (Dacy) of Columbus, Ohio; and daughter, Janie (Rob) Edwards of Rural Retreat; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and sister, Barbara J. (Doug) Short of Tazewell.
The funeral was conducted Aug. 9 at the Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church in Lebanon with the Rev. Michael Carter officiating.
Interment followed in the Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon.

Virginia Allene
Stevens Hale
Virginia Allene Stevens Hale, 80, of Castlewood, went to be with the Lord Aug. 3 at her home.
Born Feb. 29, 1928 in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lundy and Ethel Rose Duty.
She spent most of her life in the area and was a member of Duty Pentecostal Church at Indian Creek.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Stevens; one daughter, Teresa Ann Harris; seven brothers; two sisters; and one son-in-law, Ronnie Thomas.
Survivors: daughters, Debi Osborne and husband, Roger, of Lebanon, Denise Thomas of Castlewood; son, Jeffery Stevens and wife, Carol, of Cleveland; brothers, Bob Duty, Richard Duty, Randall Duty and Rodney Duty, all of Bee; sister, Norma Gilliam of Gray, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brian Stevens of Rosedale, Bradley Thomas and Aaron Thomas, both of Castlewood, Jamie Burns of Johnson City, Tenn., Matthew Stevens and Joshua Stevens, both of Cleveland, Jessica Davidson of Council; six great-grandchildren; one expected great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Beulah Mae Owens Hess
Beulah Mae Owens Hess, 94, of Honaker, died Aug. 4 at her home.
Born Dec. 30, 1913 in Drill, she was a daughter of the late Bruce Owens and Maudie Frances Sanders Owens Hess.
She was a lifelong resident of the Honaker area.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hess; one daughter, Fayrene Anderson; three sisters, Josie Hess, Emma Owens, and Mamie Peck; two brothers, Earnest Owens and Estil Owens; and one grandson, Kyle Jesse Anderson.

Jessie Evelyn Shelton Lawson, 73, of Kents Ridge, died Aug. 10 at Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, Tenn., following a brief illness.
Born May 6, 1935 in Tazewell County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Shelton and Virgie Charlotte Shelton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two half brothers, George and Marce Shelton, and three half sisters, Virge Webb, Ada Webb and Ethel Joyce.
Survivors: husband of 54 years, Darrell Lawson; sons, Gary Lawson and wife, Leesa, of Bluefield, Va., Darrell A. Louise McKeel, 73, of McMinnville, Tenn., died Aug. 9 at her residence.
She was born Feb. 3, 1935 in Jackson, Tenn.
She was a homemaker, a faithful minister’s wife, and a member of Smartt Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Paul Edward McKeel; her mother and step-father, Alma and Arnold Vernon McFarland; and her father and step-mother, Lewis and Georgie Pirtle.

Glenn Miller
Glenn Miller, 86, of Geneva, Ill., died Aug. 3 at her home.
She was born Feb. 23, 1922 in Tazewell.
Her memberships include being Past President of the P.E.O. and Administrative Secretary for the Geneva Golf Club. She also served as a financial secretary at the First Congregational Church of Geneva. Until recently, she was a partner with her husband, Desle, at Glendes Services in Geneva, which they managed together for almost 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her four sisters, Julia Adkins, Rosalinda Farrier, Pauline Wilson and Jacqueline Brown.
Survivors: husband of 64 years, Desle; son, Robert Miller of Madison, Wis.; daughter, Julie (Mike) Keating of Golden, Colo.; grandchildren, Ben (Heidi) Reynolds, Scott Reynolds and Katie Miller; and great grandchildren, Alexander and Oliver Reynolds.
Visitation was Aug. 6, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., at Yurs Funeral Home in Geneva.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at the First Congregational Church of Geneva.
Burial was at Oak Wood Cemetery in Geneseo, Ill.

Carl G. Mitchell
Carl G. Mitchell, 70, of the Dry Fork area of Cedar Bluff, went to be with his Lord and Savior Aug. 3 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center, Bluefield, W.Va.
Born June 6, 1938 at Bishop, he was a son of the late Robert Noah Mitchell and Hettie Sparks Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Mitchell and William (Billy) Mitchell, and one sister, Geraldine Smith. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Robert Scott Mitchell
Robert Scott Mitchell, 27, of Berwind, W.Va., died Aug. 6 at Tazewell Community Hospital.
Born June 3, 1981 at Gastonia, N.C., he was a son of Sharon Kay Bowman of Canebrake, W.Va., and the late Larry Dean Mitchell.
He was an artist and enjoyed working on cars. He loved his family.

Ja’Lynn Irene Moore
Ja’Lynn Irene Moore, stillborn daughter of De’Shawn Moore of Bluefield, W.Va. and Jacqueline (Duncan) Wingate of Cleveland, Va., died Aug. 3 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Roger L. Moore and Maryland Marie Bryson, and maternal grandfather, Lewis Duncan of Cleveland, Va.
Additional survivors: maternal grandmother, Regina (Stevens) Duncan and step-grandfather, Danny St. Clair of Falls Mills; maternal great-grandmother, Rita Irene (Sis) Culbertson and step-great-grandfather, Jack Goldburg of Cleveland, Va.; great-grandfathers, Brady L. Stevens and Jack Duncan, both of Cleveland, Va.; a very special uncle, Doug Stevens of Cleveland, Va.; half-brothers, De’Shawn J.D. Moore and Keivsha D. Moore of Columbus, Ohio; and half-sisters, Cha’tifa Moore and La’Chell Moore of Columbus, Ohio.
We were prepared to hold her in our arms, but God said no. With a tremble in her voice and tears in her eyes the doctor said I’m so sorry, now she rests in the arms of Jesus forevermore.

Arvon Ray OQuinn
Arvon Ray OQuinn, 68, of Haysi, died Aug. 5 in Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tenn., following an extended illness.
Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of Phoeby Deel OQuinn, of Haysi, and the late George Marion OQuinn.
He was a retired factory worker and served in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Earnie, Joe, Dadie, Josh, and Jarol OQuinn.
Additional survivors: daughter, Tammy OQuinn of Haysi; sons, Michael Lee OQuinn of Haysi, Terry OQuinn of Richlands; sisters, Elvia Yates , Susie Yates, Faye Yates and Bertha Yates, all of Haysi; brothers, Willie OQuinn and Jimmy OQuinn, both of Prater; grandchildren, Joey, Tony and Kathy Hall; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted Aug. 10 at 1 p.m. at the Russell Prater Old Regular Baptist Church in Prater with Elder Danny Yates officiating.
Burial followed in the OQuinn Cemetery on Right Fork of Greenbrier near Haysi.

James William Peery, Jr.
James William Peery, Jr., 84, of San Leandro, Calif., formerly of McDowell County, W.Va., died July 2 at his home.
Born Oct. 18, 1923, in West Virginia, he was a son of the late James William Peery and Georgia Ethel Hinkle Peery.
He was a member of the Castro Valley First Baptist Church in California.
Survivors: son, Tim Peery and wife, Leslie, of Connecticut; sisters, Aileen Terry and June Williams; and two granddaughters, Allegra and Eliza.
A memorial service celebrating his life was held July 12 at Castro Valley First Baptist Church in California.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Aug. 13 at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell with the Rev. Russell Hatfield officiating.

Dixie J. Runyon
Dixie J. Runyon, 77, of Bluff City, went to be with her heavenly father Aug. 4 from Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 27, 1930, in Richlands, to the late Thomas Luther and Bannie Lee Sykes Runyon.
She was a graduate of Richlands High School, McClain Business College and Lewis-Gale School of Nursing. She practiced nursing in Long Beach, Calif., before moving to the Bristol area in 1968.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Pattie R. Runyon; two brothers, Claude Boy Runyon and Thomas Lane Runyon; and one beloved niece, Tracy Runyon Ostrowski.
Survivors: sisters, Linda Lee Runyon and Phyllis Runyon Haga; grand nephews, Jason C. Ostrowski and Thomas Ian Ostrowski; and cousins, Albert and Beverly Davis and Billie Jean Lowe.
The committal service was conducted at 2 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Runyon Mausoleum in the Ketron Memorial Gardens, Lebanon, with Albert Davis officiating.

Joshua Austin Smith, 21, of Raven, died August 10 near Abingdon from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born in Richlands, he was the son of Terry and Martha Shelton Smith of Raven.
He was a lifelong resident of the Raven area. He was a 2005 graduate of Richlands High School. He was an outstanding student of Emory and Henry College and was an upcoming senior majoring in biology and chemistry.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert William “Bob” Shelton of Shorts Gap, and paternal grandparents, Dale Scott and Lillian Violet Smith of Raven.
Additional survivors: brother, Robert Dale Scott Smith and fiancé, Jessica Lynn Wood, of Florida; and his maternal grandmother, Dora Ann Shelton of Shorts Gap.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Aug. 14 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff with Elder Robert Whitt and Elder Ronnie Beavers officiating.
Interment will follow in the Simmons Cemetery at Red Root Ridge.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 12 and 13 with a service at 7 p.m. with Elders Craig Johnson, Ronnie Compton and Willard Owens officiating at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff.
Wanda Mae Street
Wanda Mae Street, 59, of Lebanon, formerly of the Robinson Fork section of Rowe, died Aug. 6 in a Lebanon hospital.
Born April 27, 1949 in Russell County, she was daughter of the late Howard Woodrow and Viola Laura Dotson Vance.
A native of Russell County, she was a member of the Blackford Church of Jesus Christ and was formerly employed as a machine operator at Lebanon Apparel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlotte Denae Street; one brother, Danny Vance; and one sister, Hazel James.
Survivors: husband of 39 years, Ronnie R. Street; sons, Richard E. Street and wife, Robin, of North Tazewell, Michael E. Street of Big Stone Gap; grandchildren, Jessica N. Street and Benjamin E. Street, both of North Tazewell; sisters, Gay Helton of Columbus, Ohio, Brenda Osborne and husband, James, and Lisa Musick and husband, Sherman, all of Honaker, Rita Stevens and husband, Larry, of Rosedale; brothers, Beecher Vance and wife, Alice, of Delaware, Ohio, Estil Vance and wife, Charlotte, of Honaker; several nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Dr. Eric Goss and the staff of Russell County Medical Center Hospice.
The funeral was conducted at 3 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Honaker Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Ellis and Rev. Rick Lester officiating.
Interment followed in the Clark Cemetery on Big A Mountain.

Willie Edward Taylor
Willie Edward Taylor, 57, of Pounding Mill, died July 31 at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born April 27, 1951, in Richlands, he was the son of the late Roy Abram and Eileen Maxfield Taylor.
He was a graduate of Richlands High School Class of 1971 and of Southwest Virginia Community College. He had made a living as an equipment operator for Pittston Coal. He was a member of Midway United Methodist Church.
Survivors: loving wife, Truena Taylor; daughters, Jennifer Elaine Taylor and Ashley Renee Taylor, both of Richlands; sisters, Melissa Ferrell of Pounding Mill, Brenda Vance of Oakwood, Delilah Long of Lebanon, Carolyn Sharp of North Carolina; brothers, Grey Taylor of North Carolina, Jerry Taylor of Fort Campbell, Ky., Ralph Taylor of Doran; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands with the Rev. Paul McNalley and the Rev. Stafford Compton officiating.
Interment followed in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
Granville Allen Tjaden
Granville Allen Tjaden, 76, of Raven, formerly of Delaware, went to be with the Lord Aug. 10 at his home surrounded by his loving family, following a lengthy illness.
Born in East New Market, Md., he was the son of the late Hiram Tjaden, Sr. and Jeanette Bush Tjaden, former Delaware natives.
He bravely served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a retired chemical operator for Dupont Corp, and retail clerk for the Shop-Rite Food Markets of Newark, Del. He was a member of the Ivy Spring Baptist Church of Swords Creek and served as deacon for the church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Melvin, Hiram Jr., Robert, Orville and Donald Tjaden, and two sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn and Regina Tjaden.
Survivors: loving wife, Bonnie Marie Bragg Tjaden; daughter, Susan Lynn Tjaden of Deleon Springs, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Esther Tjaden of Marshalton, Del., Mary Ann Tjaden of Wilmington, Del., Barbara Tjaden of Middletown, Del.; grandchildren, Meagan and Lauren Smith; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and a host of family and friends.
The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands with the Rev. Phillip Cook officiating.
Interment followed at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill.
Members of the Casey-Short V.F.W. Post #9640 conducted military graveside rites.
Services were held Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jerry Casey.
Henry Starlin White
Henry Starlin White, 74, of Whitewood, died Aug. 6 in Winston-Salem, N.C., following a lengthy illness.
Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late John White and Mary Keen White Boyd.
He had made his living as a coal miner, a mechanic, and an electrician. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was an expert marksman with a muzzleloader. He always looked forward to his annual hunting trip with his sons and brothers. He was a devout Christian and was of the Holiness faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Sam Boyd, and one grandson, Gregory Ray.

Marie Stiltner Wood
Marie Stiltner Wood, 81, of Abingdon, formerly of Grundy, died Aug. 4 at the Johnston Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Jonah T. and Virginia Stiltner.
She was a retired store manager of Super Dollar in Richlands and was a member of Painter Creek Church of Christ. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Seldon Wood; one daughter, Lydia Mae Prater; and one sister, Judy Lowman.
Survivors: son, Jessee and wife, Dorothy Foster, of Grundy; son-in-law, Danny Prater of Abingdon; step-daughter, Janice Powler of Spring Grove, Ill.; brothers, Lee and wife, Lauene Stiltner, and Gary Stiltner, all of Richlands; sisters, Ellen and husband, Brad Coleman, of Warren, Mich., Jean and husband, Basil Looney, of Breaks, Mickey Chaffin of New Hope, Ala.; grandchildren, Danny K. and wife, Wilma Prater, of Abingdon, Shelia and husband, Larry South, of Hillsville, Carmen and husband, Tommy Charles, of Grundy, Angie and husband, Randy Ratliff, of Bristol, Va.; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted Aug. 8 at 11 a.m. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with ministers Raffael Farrow, Richard Gaminde and David Gaminde officiating.
Burial followed in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
