CLIFFORD ALLEN HUFF
WESTFIELD, NORTH CAROLINA- Clifford Allen Huff, Sr. 59, of 1080 Huff Drive, Westfield, NC, died Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at his residence. 
He was born in Floyd Co. on August 27, 1948 to the late Oakley Huff, Sr. and Rheba Harmon Huff. 
He was retired after 10 years of service with the Stokes County School System where he worked in their Maintenance Dept. 
He was a member of the Dan River Baptist Church in Westfield.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Cornelia Agee and Kathy Huff, two brothers,  Wayman and Wilfred Huff and most recently his father-in-law,  Russell Overby.
Survivors are: his wife,  Ruby Overby Huff of the home; two daughters,  Stephanie Sawyers of Pinnacle, NC., and Patty Fulp of Danbury, NC.;  son,  Clifford Allen Huff, Jr. of Westfield, NC.;  three sisters,  Betty Wade, Connie Belcher and Margaret Mende all of Floyd;  brothers,  Calvin Huff of Roanoke, Mark and Galen Huff,  both of Floyd, Lawrence Huff of Honolulu Hawaii,  and Darrell Huff of Westfield, NC.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held 11:00 a.m.  Friday, August 1, in the chapel of Community Funeral Home of Stuart with Reverend Brent Sawyers and Ricky Rogers officiating
Burial followed in the Dan River Baptist Church Cemetery in Westfield, NC. 
Memorial may be made to the Dan River Baptist Church Missions Fund C/O Ruby O. Huff 1080 Huff Drive, Westfield, NC. 27053.

EDITH ELIZABETH REED HYLTON
FLOYD- Edith Elizabeth Reed Hylton, 91, went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 1, 2008, at her home in Floyd.  She was born January 31, 1917, in Floyd County.  Edith was a member and deaconess of the Laurel Branch Church of the Brethren.
She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and cooking.  Edith retired from the Floyd County High School cafeteria staff in 1979.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband of almost 71 years, Maynard Gilbert Hylton,  father and mother, Tas Lee and Icie Pearl Reed,  a brother and sister-in-law, Ervin A. and Donie Moricle Reed,  and nephew, Ricky.
Edith is survived by: a daughter and son-in-law, Iva H. and Dale Bukkila, Riner;  three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald E. and Brenda S. Hylton, Floyd, Olen L. and Lavene M. Hylton, Salem, and M. Wayne and Darlene H. Hylton, Westminister, Maryland.  Surviving grandchildren include Karen L. and Mark Via, Floyd,  Donna H. and Danny Smith, Floyd,  Eric Bukkila, Richmond,  Todd and Angie P. Hylton, Floyd,  Adam and Christa D. Hylton, Salem,  Christa Hylton, Westminister, Maryland,  Chad Hylton, Westminister, Maryland.  Also surviving are six great-grandchildren,  Angela Via, Floyd,  Patricia Via, Roanoke,  Laura Lee and Brandon Allen, Floyd,  Courtney Parnell, Floyd,  Haley and Hannah Hylton, Salem,  Jacob Smith, Floyd,  Austin Hylton, Floyd. One great-great-grandchild survives Trevan Via, Floyd.  Edith is survived by one sister-in-law, June H. Hylton, Christiansburg.  She was also truly blessed to have four dedicated caregivers: Loretta Callahan, Floyd; Judy Lester, Pilot; Nanette West, Willis; Amy Hurt, Willis.
Funeral service was conducted Tuesday, August 5, at 2 p.m. at the Laurel Branch Church of the Brethren, Floyd, with Pastor Angela T. Carr officiating.  Interment followed at Laurel Branch Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Laurel Branch Church of the Brethren or to the Laurel Branch Cemetery, c/o Robert Weeks, 3948 Floyd Highway South, Floyd, VA 24091.  Arrangements by Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd.

ALICE IRENE B. NORRIS
HICKORY, NORTH CAROLINA - Alice Irene B. Norris, 82, of the Lutheran Home died Sunday, August 3, 2008 at the Lutheran Home.
Born December 8, 1925 in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late George Clinton and Zelda Mae Bolick Bolick.
She was a member of Plateau United Methodist Church and also a member of the Eastern Chapter in Hickory and a volunteer for Hospice.  She was a retired bookkeeper and homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Otis Hamby and her second husband, Robert L. Norris; a sister, Verna Mae Bolick; a brother, George Wade Bolick; a step-daughter, Connie Norris Penney.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law; Lester Alan Hamby and wife, Barbara of Lenoir; Floyd Alvin Hamby and wife, Barbara of Bethlehem; and Roy Robin Hamby and wife, Tina of Granite Falls; a step-daughter, Joy Norris Batiato of Floyd ; a sister, Viola Bentley of Lenoir; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 6,  at Plateau United Methodist Church in Vale.
Reverend Norman Hubbard officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.

BENJAMIN PIERCE PERKINS
CHRISTIANSBURG-Benjamin Pierce Perkins, age 20, died Saturday, August 2, 2008.  He was born in Roanoke on November 25, 1987.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kristopher Alan Perkins, his maternal grandfather, Clyde Perkins, and paternal grandparents, Clyde Pierce and Lucy Evelyn Olinger.
He is survived by his father, Clyde Richard Olinger, his mother, Sandra Lynn Perkins both of Christiansburg;  his daughter, Autumn Grace Perkins,  and his girlfriend, Casey Barker both of Blacksburg; two sisters, Lexus and Jasmine Clabon of Christiansburg; maternal grandmother, Carolene Perkins of Blacksburg; seven aunts, Judy Horne, Connie Huff, Barbara Albert, Sarah Denig, Audrey Pascoe, Wanda Pascoe, Lois Quesenberry; and a special cousin, Sam Pascoe. 
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 7,  at 1:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jimmie Lee Price and Reverend Trena P. French officiating. 
Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. 

COBERN DALE PHILLIPS
WILLIS-Cobern Dale Phillips, 85 of Willis, passed away Monday Aug. 4, 2008. Mr. Phillips was a member of Laurel Hill Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ernest and Beatrice Quesenberry Phillips, four brothers, two infant grandsons, Jason Quesenberry and Dustin Phillips, one granddaughter Jessica Phillips.
Survivors include: his wife of 62 years,  Agnes M. Phillips ; sons, Dale Phillips and Alledia, Barry Phillips and Belinda, Randy Phillips and Judy; daughters, Diana and Freddie Owens, Becky and Tony Gregg; brother, Cline Phillips; sisters, Gae Showalte, Leah Gillie; grandchildren, Phillip, Mike and Darrell Owens, Joshua and Joey Phillips, Greg Quesenberry, Derek Hodges, Kimberly Sherman, Jonda Phillip; great-grandchildren, Brittany Quesenberry, Dustin Taylor, Jordan Owens, Hunter Owen, Kaylee and Kai Sherman
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday Aug. 7, at Maberry Funeral Home .
Mr. Blake Griffith and Mr. Larry Phillips officiating.
Interment to follow in the Showalter Cemetery. 
NOTTIE KAVILLA PHILLIPS
GALAX-Nottie Kavilla Phillips, age 101,  passed away Saturday August 2, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Braxton and Mary Elizabeth Phillips,  wife, Dovie Quesenberry Phillips,  and a daughter, Aldene Phillips.
Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Leonard Cox; grandsons, David Cox, James Cox; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday August 5, at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with Pastor Norman Goad and Pastor Harvey Carico officiating.  Interment followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. 

LUCAS EDWARD REECE
FLOYD-Lucas Edward Reece, passed away on August 1, 2008. He was the infant son of Eric and Sonya Reece, and the little brother of John and Gracie Reece. Paternal grandparents are Ward and Sandra Reece of Willis. Maternal grandparents are Clyde and Beulah Correll of Floyd.
A memorial service will be held at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren on Sunday, August 10 at 6 p.m.
Family will receive friends at 5:30 p.m. and after the service.
GLENNA VEST SPRINKLE
BOTETOURT COUNTY-Glenna Vest Sprinkle, 79, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2008.  Glenna was born December 29, 1928 in Roanoke, to the late Samuel Glen Vest and Ethia Conner Vest.
Glenna graduated from Check High School and Jefferson Hospital Nursing School with a RN degree.  She was employed with the Botetourt County Health Department as a Home Health Nurse.
In the 1970’s Glenna was selected as Mother of the Year for Roanoke Valley. 
She was a avid church and choir member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. 
Glenna was predeceased by her husband of 49 years Norman Sprinkle and sister Pauline Vest Board.
She is survived by:  her four sons,  Gary Sprinkle and his wife Cate,  Gordon Sprinkle,  Ronald Sprinkle and his wife Lynn and Ricky Sprinkle and his wife Lisa;  seven grandchildren,  Drew,  Paige,  Seth,  Kelly,  Conner,  Travis and   Jenna Sprinkle;  sister,  Sigrid Vest Seiler and her husband Tom;  niece, Laura Seiler;  nephew, Shawn Seiler; many special friends including her beloved dog, Nicholas.A service celebrating Glenna’s life will be held Tuesday, August 5 at 10 a.m.  with Reverend Bob Hutchins officiating.
Interment was at Trinity Cemetery.  Contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, c/o PO Box 596 Daleville, VA 24083.  Arrangements Rader Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Daleville, Virginia.
SAMUEL “SAM” MORGAN THOMASON
VINTON- Samuel Morgan Thomason,  “Sam”,  21,  went   to be with the Lord on July 31, 2008.
Sam was a very talented and dedicated guitar player who enjoyed playing music with friends and entertaining family in a soulful, yet comical way.
Sam also enjoyed being around and interacting with children.
Sam had a wonderful spirit to him and a kind and compassionate nature towards all.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Ranfort Everett Wilson and paternal step-grandfather Jason Frank Higgins.
He is survived by:  his mother,  Tina Manie Wilson and his father,  Terry Lee Thomason and Sissy;  sister,  Traci Leigh Vest and brother-in-law,  Gabriel of Floyd;  brother,  Dexter Lee   Thomason and sister-in-law,  Rebecca of Floyd;  brother,  Randy Le Thomason of Vinton;  twin sister,  Sonya Mae Thomason of Floyd.
Sam   also had many nieces and nephews,  Aidan,  Zachary,  Logan,  Blake,  Penelope,  Shiannen,  Haley and Kloe.
Other   surviving relatives are his maternal grandmother,  Judy Green,  paternal grandmother,  Lois Marie Higgins,  paternal grandfather Carl Dexter Thomason,  Jr.  and wife Ann.
Sam also had many   aunts,  uncles,  cousins,  and friends who   loved him dearly.
A graveside service was held Monday, August 4, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Roanoke County,
Reverend Elmo McLaunn officiated.
