WILLIAM FLOYD COX
PILOT-William Floyd Cox passed away suddenly on May 16, 2007.
William was born in Syracuse, New York on December 5, 1947. He attended the State University College at Buffalo, New York and the University of Mysore in India. He graduated with a degree in art and established a business in print making, specializing in copper plate etchings. William’s whimsical personality was reflected in his art work which delighted many patrons and won many awards over the years.
He was also an accomplished guitar and recorder player.
He moved to an old farmhouse in Check in 1975 which he renovated for his growing family and business, then moved to Pilot in 1990. William’s business “Green Man Graphics,” originally known as Fantasy Etchings,” enabled him to travel to art shows in many states, yet he was always joyful to return to these blue mountains where he found the inspiration he needed to create his art work, now his legacy.
He is survived by: two daughters, Molly Cox and Bronwen Cox: two sons, Jeremy Cox and Shawn Cox; daughter-in-law, Ashley Cox; son-in-law, Cael Croft; grandson, Aiden William Cox; step-daughter, Amelia Turney; step-son, Will Sawyer; sister, Sandra Micek; nieces and nephews, and many friends. William’s loving personality, music making, kindness, and laughter will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.
SANDRA LEE HUFF
FLOYD-Sandra Lee Huff, 60, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2007 at her home. She was preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Guill.
Survivors include: her parents,Coolidge and Lelia Huff, Floyd; niece, Sherry Holland, Boones Mill; great-niece, Andrea Michelle Holland, Boones Mill; brother-in-law, Bobby Guill, Boones Mill; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday May 19, at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with Rev. Roy Turpin officiating.
Interment followed at Jacksonville Cemetery. Arrangements by Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd.
CHRISTINE PAULEY PATTERSON
FLOYD-Christine Pauley Patterson went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 18, 2007.
She died peacefully at her home. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Leonard Mason Patterson, Sr., her parents, O.B. and Alice Cockram Pauley, brothers, William (Bud) Pauley and Norman Pauley, sisters, Aldene Pauley and Ercel P. Murray.
She is survived by: son, Leonard Patterson, Jr. and wife Ginny of Statesville, North Carolina; sisters, Mildred and Ed Lloyd, and Ruth and Bain Thompson; sisters-in-law, Belva Pauley and Mabel DeHart; grandchildren, Steven Troy Patterson and Karen Leigh Patterson of Biloxi, Mississippi and two great-grandchildren, T.J. and Hannah Patterson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held at Floyd Baptist Church on Monday, May 21, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Dave Holladay and Reverend P.J. Hicks officiating. Interment followed at Danville Memorial Gardens in Danville at 2:30 p.m.
The family request that memorials be made to the Medical Charities of Floyd County, 100 E. Main Street, Room 108, Floyd, VA 24091.
Arrangements were handled by Wood Funeral Home in Floyd.
