Murdersuicide appears to be domestic situation

DORAN – An early morning shooting left two people dead Aug. 21.
Sheriff’s deputies say Brenda Howell, 56, of White Oak Lane and Edward White, 45, both were found dead outside Howell’s residence around 7 a.m. They said the two had lived together for several years and had recently broken up.
White reportedly had been stalking Howell prior to the shooting. The bodies were discovered after a 911 call reported gunshots in the area. Police discovered a 20 gauge shotgun at the scene.
Both Howell and White were shot in the chest. Efforts by members of the Richlands Fire and Rescue Squad to revive the victims were futile and both were declared dead at the scene.
The bodies were sent to Roanoke for an autopsy. The case is still under investigation with Detective John Mabry as the lead investigator.
