With no incumbents on the ballot, Glade Spring’s council race was anyone’s ballgame.
On Tuesday, it was Melissa Mitchell’s.
Mitchell was the leading vote-getter, securing a seat on Town Council with 135 vote.
Jim Copenhaver and Steve Cannon, who captured the remaining two open seats, were closer to Mitchell’s vote total than to the numbers received by the bottom two candidates.
Copenhaver received 117, and Cannon received an even 100 votes.
Challengers Johnathan Holmes and Roland Guidry received 40 and 25 votes, respectively. There were six write-in votes.
