Michael Waller of Ivanhoe wins the Motorcycle Class at ECD

A dubious record was set at Elk Creek Dragway for the 2007 IHRA-Summit Super Series program this past Saturday nights. It was the coldest race of the season!
Reigning Super Pro Eliminator champion Bobby Hash of Independence drove his Chevrolet Camaro to a final round 5:80 ET at 100 mph for the win in that class. Chris Perry of Mouth of Wilson claimed the runner-up position as his white Chevy Vega recorded a 6:25 ET at 101 mph. Michelle Furr of Galax, driving her Chevrolet Camaro, was the semifinalist.
Michael Waller of Ivanhoe added yet another Motorcycle Class win for 20007 to his record with a 6:93 ET at 92 mph. The runner-up was Randy Cornett of Mouth of Wilson, who raced his bike to a final round 6:41 ET at 99 mph.
The Junior Dragster Eliminator race was won by Brieann Hash. The young lady from Independence raced her dragster to a final round 7:98 ET at 73 mph. Morgan Dean of Max Meadows was the runner-up with a final round 7:87 ET at 73 mph. Dane Shinault of Hillsville was the semifinalist in the class.
The winner of the Footbrake Class was Tyrone Merilic of Fries with a Ford Mustang that recorded a final round 6:72 ET at 93 mph. The runner-up, Jim Bo Sells of Troutdale, drove his Chevy-powered Dodge to a 6:60 ET at 94 mph. The semifinalist, Randall Hill of Woodlawn, drove a Chevy S10 pickup.
As temperatures dropped into the low 40s, Jim Sharitz closed the show with his S10 pickup that raced to an 8:66 ET at 76 mph to win the DOT Class. Debbie Brannock of Galax was the runner-up. Her Camaro recorded an 8:25 ET at 73 mph. The semifinalist was Jerry Trivette of Blowing Rock, N.C., in a Maverick.
Winners of the Low ET-Top Speed of the race were Steve Bralley in a Dodge Dakota pickup with a 5:05 ET at 124 mph, and Alan Bales in a Chevy S10 pickup that recorded a 5:17 ET at 123 mph.
Mitchell Poe, driving a Beretta, and Terry Kilby, driving his 1957 Bel Air, each recorded a 5:22 ET at over 122 mph.
