Kwik Kix Martial Arts & Fitness (KKMA), L.L.C. held its best testing and graduation for the “Little Kickers” (pre-school ages 4-6) and for children and youth (age 7-13) on June 2 and June 16.
All students were required to demonstrate stances, kicks, punches, strikes, and kata (forms) based on the student’s knowledge of content (training “time in”) and age appropriate developmental motor skills. Running, push-ups and sit-ups were also all a part of the student’s skills test.
As belt testing came to a close prior to the belt tying ceremony, some of the youth were asked to demonstrate and role-play some skits from the KKMA “KID(s) FOCUS” Community Awareness & Safety Program. This program focuses on an environmental awareness protocol such as children having a buddy system when out in public, never allow children to play around bathroom areas in a public parks or play in back alleys or desolate places and make sure they can tell you their full name, address, and phone number in case one day they have to use it. If an adult asks a child for help--- teach him or her to be “rude” because adults should ask adults for help, NOT children. Also the program offers fun and innovative teaching strategies teaching your children how to protect themselves in their own environment.
