Lewis grabs gold in Commonwealth Games

Jake Lewis of Wytheville won a gold medal last Saturday in the annual Coventry Commonwealth Games.
Jake, age 11, won the medal in the age 10-12, 120-lb. weight class in wrestling. The wrestling competition was held in the Christiansburg Recreation Center.
Wrestlers from all over the state competed and also included some from surrounding states.
In the finals, Jake pinned Dave Jennelie of the Christiansburg-based Virginia Elite Wrestling Team in the second period.
Jake wrestles for the Wytheville Evolution Wrestling Club. He is the son of Meade and Teresa Lewis and is a sixth grade student at Scott Memorial Middle School.
