Lady Buffs win second district match

The varsity volleyball team picked up its second Three Rivers District win and its first on the road with a 3-1 win at Radford Tuesday, September 30. Game scores were 25-23, 12-25, 25-21, 25-19.
In the opening game, the teams were tied 7-7 at the end of the first serving rotation. Courtney Smith got four points to put Floyd ahead for good at 14-10.
Vanessa Quesenberry got three points to make it 20-15. The Cats rallied for a 23-23 tie, but Idalina Walker got the last two points for the win.
Game two saw Radford go up 8-7 after one serving rotation. Then Nikki Tibbs scored nine in a row to open an 18-9 lead for the Bobcats.
Hailey Deitz got game point as Radford evened the match 1-1.
Radford opened a 7-2 lead in the third game. Vanessa Quesenberry got Floyd within two at 11-9 and Misty Bryant trimmed the lead to 12-11.
Idalina Walker got two points to put Floyd up 17-16, but the Cats regained the lead. Emily Gruver got three to get Floyd within 21-20, and Quesenberry got five more to clinch the game.
Game four was tied 1-1, 4-4, 5-5, 8-8, 10-10 and 11-11. Lydia Prokosch got three points to put Floyd up 14-12, and Courtney Smith extended the lead to 19-13. Misty Bryant got match point.
The Buffaloes lost 3-0 to Glenvar at Floyd Thursday, October 2. Game scores were 25-18, 25-13, 25-20.
In game one Glenvar led 10-8 and 12-9. Julie Helton expanded the lead with three points.
In the second game, Floyd went up 9-7 at the end of the first rotation. Kelly Thompson got seven points to put the Highlanders up by three. Casey Moore got nine points to make it 23-12.
Glenvar opened the third game with a 14-7 lead. Lauren Hollandsworth got four points to cut the lead to three, before Shelby Wynn got match point.
