Lady Buffs down Spartans in home volleyball game

The varsity volleyball team picked up its first district win of the season, beating Giles 3-0 at Floyd Thursday, September 25. Game scores were 25-16, 25-15, 25-15.
The opening game was tied at 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4 and 5-5 before the Spartans took a 7-5 lead. Vanessa Quesenberry served the Buffs to a 10-8 lead, getting help on two points from Misty Bryant.
Bryant served Floyd to a 13-10 lead and Lydia Prokosch got three points to up the lead to 17-12. Courtney Smith upped the lead to 21-14 and Idalina Walker served the last two points. Jaclyn Bradford had a kill on the 24th point.
Floyd jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second game on serves by Prokosch. The lead grew to 9-3 on a service ace by Bradford.
Bryant made it 13-6 on a spike by Walker and added two more service points for a 15-6 lead. Katie Long got a point to make it 19-11, and Walker’s serve upped the lead to 21-12.
Quesenberry got game point for the win.
Floyd fell behind 2-1 in the third game, but took the lead for good on two serves by Prokosch. Emily Gruver served to give Floyd a 10-8 lead.
Three points by Prokosch upped the lead to 18-11. Walker made it 22-13 on a double block by Long and Gruver. Gruver got match point on an unreturned serve.
