Lady Buffs beat Glenvar

The girls’ varsity basketball team completed an undefeated road record in district play by beating Glenvar 70-54 at Glenvar Tuesday and beating Eastern Montgomery 79-15 at Elliston Thursday.
At Glenvar, Floyd took a 17-11 first quarter lead. Lindsey Thompson had two field goals, Brittany Bourne had a field goal and two free throws, Brittany Avancini had a field goal and a free throw, and Nicole Snead, Brandy Phillips and Molly Brown had field goals.
The Buffs had a 16-15 second quarter edge to lead 33-26 at the half. Thompson had a three and three field goals, Bourne had two field goals, and Phillips hit a three.
In the third quarter Floyd outscored the Highlanders 16-11. Avancini hit a three and had two field goals, Phillips had a three, and Brown, Bourne and Kayla Hartman had field goals.
Brown hit a three and had three field goals, Thomspon had a three and two free throws, Bourne had a field goal and two free throws, and Emily Thompson made two free throws in the fourth quarter.
Floyd: Avancini 10, L. Thompson 18, E. Thompson 2, Phillips 9, Brown 13, Bourne 14, Snead 2, Hartman 2
Glenvar: Long 7, Arthur 9, Knoebel 12, Hunter 5, Owen 12, Rhodes 9
The Buffaloes improved the district record to 9-0 with the victory over the Mustangs.
Floyd went up 25-2 in the first quarter. Lindsey Thompson hit a three and had a field goal, Molly Brown and Emily Thompson had two field goals each, Brandy Phillips hit a three, Alisha Gray had a field goal and a free throw, and Brittany Avancini, Kayla Hartman and Amber Quesenberry each had field goals.
A 24-2 second quarter upped the halftime lead to 49-4. Brown and Hartman had three field goals each, Nicole Snead had two field goals, and Avancini, L. Thompson, Gray, and Brittany Bourne each had field goals.
The Buffs had a 19-6 advantage in the third quarter. L. Thompson had a three and two field goals, Gray, Phillips and Quesenberry each had field goals, and E. Thompson, Brown and Hartman each made two free throws.
In the fourth quarter Avancini hit a three, Quesenberry and Kayla McAlexander had field goals, and Gray and Carmen Bolt each made two free throws.
