Girls soccer team wins first four

The girls’ soccer team won its fourth straight, beating Patrick County 2-1 at Floyd Friday, March 28.
The Buffaloes went up 1-0 in the first half when Christina Soule got a goal off an assist from Samantha Morris. The lead held to halftime.
The Cougars had a golden opportunity to score on a penalty kick at point blank range. But the shot bounced off the left upright.
Minutes later, goalkeeper Shasta Sowers made a leaping save to stop a high shot by Patrick. Floyd went up 2-0 at the 28 minute mark as Soule scored off an assist from Amanda Schula.
The Cougars got a goal a minute later off a scrum in front of the net. The score at the 27 minute mark made it 2-1, which was the final score.
Floyd had opened the season with an 8-0 win at Christiansburg Thursday, March 13. Sam Morris scored three goals, Lulu Barber scored two, Amanda Schula scored two and Christina Soule scored one.
Caroline Blevins had two assists and Morris had one assist. Shasta Sowers had four saves and Shannon McDaniel had one save.
Floyd beat Patrick 4-1 at Stuart Monday, March 17. Sam Morris had three goals and Amanda Schula had one.
Schula had two assists, Lulu Barber had one assist and Caroline Blevins had one assist. Shasta Sowers had 15 saves.
The Buffaloes blanked Christiansburg 7-0 at floyd Wednesday, March 26. Amanda Schula had three goals and Sam Morris and Christina Soule had two each.
Morris had two assists, and Schula, Soule and Lulu Barber had one assist each. Shasta Sowers had nine saves.
