Girls finish second

The Lady Buffs U16 traveling softball team finished second in the Fast and Furious tournament in Salem July 5-6. Floyd County lost the championship game by one run.

In the opener Saturday, July 5 against the Silver Bullets, the Buffs won 7-6. Floyd went up 1-0 in the first. Silver Bullets tied the game in the second, with the Buffaloes getting six runs in the bottom of the inning.
Floyd held off the Silver Bullets, who got three runs in the fourth inning and two in the fifth.

Floyd bounced back with a 6-0 win over Franklin County Saturday. Katie Long scored in the first and Amber Ingram and Shawna Harris scored in the fourth.
The Buffaloes added three more runs in the fifth. Krista Cox picked up the shutout victory.

On Sunday, July 5, Floyd defeated Maroon Crush 3-2. Shawna Harris got a run in the second.
The Maroon Crush got two runs in the third to go up by a run. In the sixth Alexis Roop walked and scored on a single by Courtney Huff.
Leanna Mattson singled and scored on a double by Jessi Hall for the win.

The Renegades went up 2-1 in the third. Jessi Hall got a run in the third to tie the game.
The Renegades got the deciding run with two out in the sixth.
