Paranormal investigators have been hanging out in Wythe County recently.
The Virginia Paranormal Society on Oct. 26 conducted its second investigation of the Major Graham Mansion. The group was joined by the West Virginia Ghost Hunters.
According to Demitria Gerken, a case manager with the Virginia Paranormal Society, the evidence collected from the most recent investigation was all audio recordings.
Gerken said the group found some interesting voices. When Gerken and another person were in the room known as the classroom, he said they heard something say, “Get out.”
The investigator’s audio recorder picked up, “Help me or hear me.” Later in that same room was, “Get… ??.” Gerken said he thought it might have been get out or get on with it.
Besides those sounds, there were also some “shushes,” which Virginia Paranormal Society had picked up on its first investigation too.
Virginia Paranormal Society has been in business for two years, it is a nonprofit organization was started by Ron Thorne and Nick Ferra. The two paranormal investigators grew up together. The group does not charge anything to come and investigate a place with possible paranormal activity. The group takes more of a serious look at the paranormal; they do it scientifically using camcorders, audio recorders, EMF detectors and cameras. The Virginia Paranormal Society does not believe in psychics or mediums.
Thorne said there are two types of hauntings – the residual, which allows you to hear ghosts but not communicate with them and the intellectual, which allows for interaction with ghosts. The Virginia Paranormal Society did not report any encounters of the intellectual variety at the mansion.
The group plans to return to the Major Grahams Mansion to continue its paranormal investigation.
