Galax sinks Waves

The Wytheville Waves swim team was defeated by Galax in a meet held July 7 at Galax.
The Galax Riptide outscored the Waves 449-340. In the boys’ final results, Galax narrowly edged Wytheville by 185-174. The girls’ results were Galax 264, Wytheville 166.
Here is how the Waves fared in the top three places of each event:
Girls’ age 11-12 100-meter individual medley (IM): Megan Brewster was first in 1:47.47: Elise P. Harrison was third in 1:48.57.
Boys’ 11-12 100 IM: Justin Pile was first in 2:00.85.
Boys’ 13-14 100 IM: Zack Aker was first in 1:39.03.
Boys’ 15-18 100 IM: Thomas Harrison was second in 1:28.43.
Boys’ 6 and under 25 freestyle: Holden Robinson was third in 1:06.44.
Girls’ 7-8 25 freestyle: Grayson Anders was third in 23.44.
Boys’ 7-8 25 freestyle: Ellis Robinson was first in 24.31; Nash Russell was second in 25.34; Cameron Bear was third in 27.94.
Boys’ 9-10 25 freestyle: Grant Anders was first in 20.78.
Girls’ 11-12 50 freestyle: Elise P. Harrison was first in 42.16; Megan Brewster was third in 43.25.
Boys’ 11-12 50 freestyle: Justin Pile was first in 42.93; Justin Shanvely was second in 44.56.
Girls’ 13-14 50 freestyle: Jessica Atkins was first in 38.93; Megan Lacy was second in 39.25.

Girls’ 9-10 25 breaststroke: Madeline Showalter was second in 28.34; Lauren Pile was third in 28.81.

Girls’ 11-12 50 breaststroke: Hannah Showalter was first in 53.59.
