It might be hard to believe, but the mid-point of the regular high school football season kicks off this Friday night.
For most teams this will be the last of their non-district games before beginning their district schedules on the following Friday.
For Wythe County teams, Fort Chiswell goes to county rival George Wythe. Rural Retreat travels to Radford. The games are slated to kick off at 7:30 p.m.

Fort Chiswell at George Wythe
This one has the makings of a super exciting game. Both teams were involved in tense struggles last Friday with Fort Chiswell dropping a hard-fought (28-25) battle with Floyd County and George Wythe losing a 44-34 conflict against Giles.
Fort Chiswell (2-2 overall) clearly has one of its better teams in years. George Wythe (0-4 overall) would appear to have one of its weaker teams in years. The Maroons’ record, however, is probably deceiving. GW has went up against four excellent teams (Tazewell, Radford, Floyd County and Giles) and played very well against them.
George Wythe is obviously hungry for that first win.
Fort Chiswell would like nothing better than to defeat its county rival for the first time in several years. The Pioneers know that this could be the year they prevail. It’s going to be an awesome victory for one of these teams!

Rural Retreat at Radford
Rural Retreat (1-3 overall) was off last Friday after getting beat by Glenvar the week before.
The Indians have struggled this season and will have a difficult task against a superb Radford (3-0 overall) team. The Bobcats were also off last week after thumping Grayson County the week before.
Rural Retreat’s lone win also came against Grayson County. Radford hasn’t played that tough of a schedule so far this season, so the Indians have a decent shot at gaining the upset.
