ASTOR CARL HOLLINS
GOODVIEW-Astor Carl Hollins, Sr. 89,  passed away Monday, July 14, 2008. He was born June 21, 1919 the son of the late Oakley Leek Hollins and Melissa Maye Keaton Hollins. His wife of 65 years, Evelyn Marie Noell Hollins, preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Faye E. Brown and grandson, David G. Gish. He was a Charter Member of Chamblissburg Baptist Church. He retired from Singer Furniture Company and Halmode Apparel.
Surviving are two daughters, Marie Wagnitz and husband Gerald of Hardy, Dianne Scruggs and husband, John Wesley of Goodview; two sons, Reverend A.C. Hollins, Jr. and wife, Sue, of Roanoke, Robert Hollins and wife Susan of Roanoke; 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; son-in-law, Mike Brown and wife, Jo, of Tennessee; two sisters, Malicia Shaver and husband, Clifford, of Copper Hill, Elta Wilson and husband, Wayne, of Copper Hill; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Hollins of Greensboro, North Carolina, Ruby Hollins of Raleigh, North Carolina.
Funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at Chamblissburg Baptist Church. Interment followed in Mountain View Cemetery. Donations may be made to Bibles International, 609 36th Street, SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49548. Arrangements were handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel.
