Pauline Agnew Dunford, 85, of Charleston, WV formerly of Floyd, VA passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2008.
She is survived by her son and special friend, Larkin Dunford and Betty DeLuca, Morristown, TN; granddaughter and spouse, Maureen and Shannon Phillips, Evans, WV; great-grandchildren, Christian Dunford, Garrett Phillips, Madison Phillips, all of Evans, WV.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2008 at Gardner Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Gregory officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 8 until 9 p.m. Thursday at Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.

Posey Lester Hylton, age 71, of Meadows of Dan, passed away Thursday January 10, 2008. He was the son of the late Samuel G. & Ollie Gay Hylton. He worked as a host at Mabry Mill.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Sunday January 13, 2008 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with Rev. Ralph Duncan officiating. Interment followed at the Dalton Family Cemetery, Meadows of Dan. Arrangements by Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd.
Milan Elwood “Bob” Roberts, 89, of Blacksburg died Wednesday January 9, 2008. He was born April 10, 1918, in Milan, Pennsylvania a son of the late William and Sarah Roberts. Bob resided at Kroontje Health Care Center. Survivors include, wife of 58 yrs, Doris E. Roberts, son and daughter in law Bruce and Sharon Roberts of Olympia, WA; daughter, Carroll J. Roberts, LPN, of Christiansburg, Va. Grandchildren, Sean Roberts, Centralia, WA; Shannon Mundelius, Danville,CA. Also, 3 great grandchildren, Karleigh Roberts, Wyatt Mundelius and Annabelle Mundelius. Milan had 11 siblings, surviving is Virginia Morris, Sayre, PA and many, many nieces and nephews. His career of 33 years with IBM took him from Ohio to Hawaii where he met and married Doris Lutts in 1949, then traveled to Rochester, N.Y.; Boston, MA; Massepequa, N.Y.; Tokyo Japan; and Stamford, CT until retiring in 1975 and moving to Willis, VA and enjoyed farming until moving to Blacksburg. In 2005 they moved to Warm Hearth Village, where Doris still resides. Milan was a dedicated Virginia Farm Bureau member and enjoyed supporting the Floyd County High School athletic teams. He enjoyed his 32 years in Virginia and has been blessed with a wonderful circle of friends. Sincere thanks and appreciation to the caring and dedicated staff at the Kroontje Health Care Center, they truly made his 89th year extra special. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 11:00 am in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Gregory officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
Steve M. Sowers, 56 of Hillsville, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at his home. Mr. Sowers is survived by his wife Susan Sowers of the home; son Steven Wayne Sowers of Hillsville; father Oscar B. Sowers of Floyd; brothers & sisters-in-law Neal & Margaret Sowers of Roanoke, Junior & Katherine Sowers of Floyd and Jimmy & Sandy Hill of Hillsville; sisters & brothers-in-law Teresa & Ricky Richardson and Nancy & Roger Beasley all of Hillsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 4, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Michael Montgomery & Neil Eidson officiating. Burial in the Jacksonville Cemetery in Floyd County. The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
