Floyd County’s first summer youth soccer camp was a big hit. About 40 campers attended.
“I thought is was a really good camp,” said Liesl Narrow, the camp director. “We wound up with more people than we expected.”
The camp was open for grades kindergarten through high school freshman. “A lot of them had never played before,” she said. “Some of them had never seen a game before.
“It was a long day for some of the little kids. But I thought they did great.”
Narrow had help from 15 members of the Floyd County High School girls’ soccer team, plus one member of the FCHS boys’ team.
Funds from the camp will be used to send members of the FCHS soccer team to a college camp. Nine members of the girls’ team will attend the camp at Davidson next week.
