I’m proud of Floyd for two reasons:
#1 more Democrats than Republicans voted on Feb. 12
#2 Barack Obama beat Hillary Clinton.
Now let’s hope that Floyd makes us really proud in November and we see more votes for Barack Obama than John McCain!
Mike Huckabee and Barack Obama were the choice in Floyd County in Virginia’s Presidential Primaries Tuesday. Obama finished first overall among Democrats in Virginia, while Huckabee was second in the statewide count to John McCain on the Republican side.
The total vote for Republicans countywide: Mike Huckabee 689, John McCain 355, Ron Paul 46, Mitt Romney 22, Fred Thompson 4, Rudy Giulliani 3.
The total vote for Democrats countywide: Barack Obama 655, Hillary Clinton 635, John Edwards 24, and Dennis Kucinich 10. Bill Richardson and Joe Biden did not receive any votes in Floyd.
Democrats had 1,324 voters, the Republicans had 1,119 voters.
