Floyd boys lose final game

The varsity boys’ basketball team lost the final game of the regular season, falling 60-58 in overtime to Craig County at New Castle Friday, February 15. Brett Holman led Floyd with 21 points, with nine of ten field goals coming on drives to the basket.
The Buffaloes took their only lead of the game when Brian Ingram scored on a drive. Corey Tenney and Kevin Bradshaw scored inside and Lucas Faw hit a three to put the Rockets up by five.
Aaron Lusk scored on an inbounds play and Travis Bolt converted a steal to cut the lead to one. A three point play by Faw gave Craig County a 10-6 lead for the first quarter.
Holman got a basket and fed Brogan Franklin for a layin for a 10-10 tie. Crenshaw got two baskets for the Rockets.
A drive by Holman and a lay up by Lusk tied the game again. Crenshaw answered with two baskets, then Tucker Crawford hit a three to cut the lead to one. Faw scored on a drive and Tenney converted a three point play at the buzzer to give Craig a 23-17 halftime lead.
Crenshaw opened the third with a free throw, with Holman scoring on a drive. A lay in by Crenshaw was answered by a basket from Lusk and a drive by Holman.
Tenney converted another three point play, with Holman answering with a length of the court drive and then feeding Coartney for a fast break basket. Crenshaw hit a hook and Zach Griffith got a turnover basket. After a free throw by Tenney, Holman got a basket with 41 seconds left and Floyd ended the third quarter down 32-31.
Crenshaw and Holman traded baskets, then Tenney hit a jumper, and Faw scored on a steal and made two free throws to put the Rockets up 40-33 at 6:46. Bolt scored on an inbounds play, with Tenney scoring inside.
Ingram made a free throw, then Faw scored on a break to up the lead to eight at 5:08. Lusk scored inside and Crawford scored on a break to trim the margin to four.
Crenshaw scored inside and Bolt answered with a lay in at 1:40. A lay in by Crenshaw at 1:30 made it 48-42.
Crawford hit a three at 1:04 to cut the lead in half, then Faw made one of two free throws with 31 seconds left. Kaleb Gallimore got a turnover basket with 12 seconds left, and Ingram fouled Faw, who hit one of two free throws for a 50-47 lead.
Holman banked in a three from the key and was fouled with four seconds left, but missed the free throw. Faw missed a runner at the buzzer and regulation ended 50-50.
Tenney opened overtime with a follow shot, with Holman getting a basket for a 52-52 tie. Crenshaw converted a three point play, Faw made one free throw, and Nic Ruble made two with 1:03 left for a six point lead.
Holman drove the court for a basket, with Faw making one of two free throws. Ingram scored on a drive to cut the lead to three.
Faw made one more free throw with seven seconds left, then Ingram got the final basket of the game.
