A Rural Retreat man is sought by the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office in connection with an assault on his wife Saturday night. Timothy Cimino, 36, of 302 Musser Avenue is wanted on a warrant for malicious wounding.
According to Chief Deputy Keith Dunagan, deputies were called around 6:50 p.m. to an apartment where they found Marlillian Cimino with bruises and swelling to her head and body. They had her transported to Wythe County Community Hospital where she was treated and released.
Evidence at the scene, Dunagan said, indicated the woman had been assaulted by her husband, who was gone when officers arrived. He noted that Timothy Cimino has been entered into the national register of persons wanted by police.
A protective order also was issued forbidding Cimino to have contact with his wife, according to Dunagan.
In an unrelated case, a Wytheville couple were charged Saturday evening after a resident called 911 to report seeing two people fighting in a black Honda in the Rural Retreat area. Jerome Mabe, 44, of Southfork Drive was charged with driving under the influence (fourth offense) and 36-year-old Sandra Mabe was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and possession of a schedule II controlled substance (Loratab).
Dunagan said deputies were dispatched to the area and while they were en route the resident followed the Mabe’s car and provided dispatch with updated locations of the vehicle. The resident, he stated, observed the Honda pull over and the driver, a male, change places with a female who became the new driver.
Deputies located the vehicle on Southfork Drive in Wytheville, according to Dunagan. He said while speaking with the Mabes, deputies found that the couple had been involved in an argument but no assault had occurred.
After finding the Mabes unsteady on their feet, Dunagan said, the deputies performed field sobriety tests. The charges were then filed, according to the chief deputy.
