Buffs finish fifth in district golf

The Floyd County High School golf team finished fifth in the Three Rivers District tournament at Draper Valley Golf Club in Max Meadows Tuesday, September 30. Radford won the championship, edging Giles by one stroke. Both teams advance to the Region C tournament, set for Tuesday this week at Draper Valley.
Jeremy Sunshine and Josh Calloway each shot a 93 for Floyd, missing by one stroke a chance to advance to the regional tournament as individuals. Other scores for Floyd were Bradley Gunn 99, Andrew Blevins 106, Victor Ling 109 and Max Williams 111.
Zeke Schaffer of Radford and Tanner Carbaugh of Giles tied for individual medalist honors. Both shot a two-under par 70 over 18 holes.
