Buffs fall to Giles.

The varsity boys’ basketball team ended the season with a first round 75-62 loss to Giles at Pearisburg Tuesday, February 19. The Spartans, who were seeded third in the district, hosted the sixth seeded Buffaloes.
Giles established enough of a margin by jumping out to a 22-8 first quarter lead. The Buffaloes outscored the Spartans for the balance of the game, including an advantage in the second and fourth quarters.
In the second quarter the Buffaloes doubled their point production, outscoring Giles 16-11. That trimmed the halftime margin to 33-24.
The Spartans outscored Floyd 27-19 in the third quarter to extend the lead to 60-43. Floyd came back to take the fourth 19-15.
Freshman Tucker Crawford hit five three pointers and led the Buffaloes with 33 points, his third 30-point game of the season. Nathan Coartney added eight points.
Cody Griffith and Evan Lidgard scored 12 each for the Spartans. Giles advanced but lost to Auburn in the tournament semifinals.
