William Alfonso Charlton Sr.
William Alfonso Charlton Sr., 71, of Rocky Gap died Friday, July 27, 2007.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Tynes Chapel AME Zion Church in Rocky Gap with the Rev. Todd French and Pastor Young officiating. Interment will follow in the Hogans Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
He was the son of the late Jesse and Reba Graves Charlton. He was a retired U.S. Marine Corps master sergeant and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Epps Charlton, and two brothers, Sherman Charlton and Ronald Charlton.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Roxanne Charlton of San Diego, Calif., Jacqueline Williams of North Carolina, Valerie and Gray Flournoy of Louisiana, and Robin and Kerry White of Maryland; sons and daughters-in-law, William A. Jr. and Mary Charlton, Garrick Charlton, and Dion and Letty Douglas, all of San Diego, Calif.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice and Garland Harris of Bluefield, W.Va., Lyona French of Bluefield, Edna Thomas of Bluefield, W.Va., and Tina and Willie Hunt of Bluefield, W.Va.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lowell and Helen Charlton of California, Jesse and Gail Charlton, and Timothy and Shelia Charlton, all of Michigan; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.

Sharon Overbaugh
Sharon Faye Simms Overbaugh, 58, of Bland died on Thursday, July 26, 2007, at her home.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 28, at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va., with Minister Clowney Hammons officiating. Burial followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluewell, W.Va.
Born on Oct. 12, 1948, in Welch, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Steven and Pauline Sims. She was a graduate of Gary High School and went to college at Concord College. She had worked in an automotive accounting department for 34 years. She had lived in Bland for the past 22 years and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandaughter, Jordan Elizabeth Overbaugh; her sisters, Evelyn, Ruby, Roseland, Wilma, Shelby and Margaret; and by her brothers, Ralph, Donald, Gilbert, Harry (Red), and Billy.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Ray Overbaugh of the home; a son, Stanley Overbaugh of Rutledge, Tenn.; a daughter, Julie Roberts of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Barbara Simms of Seabring, Fla., Nancy Freeman of Warm Springs, Patty Johnson of Anawalt, W.Va., and Brenda Norwalk of Henderson, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Jeremy Roberts, Ashley Overbaugh and Heidi Overbaugh.
The Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in West Virginia was in charge of arrangements

Bessie H. Pauley
Bessie Opal Hall Pauley, 86, of Bland died Monday, July 23, 2007.
Funeral service was held Thursday, July 26, at 1 p.m. at the Highland Bland Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joe Taylor officiating. Interment was in the Bland Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 19, 1920, in Carroll County, a daughter of the late Ken and Saloma Akers Hall. She was a member of the Bland United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ward L. Pauley Sr.; a grandson, Ward Clifton Pauley; a brother, James G. Hall; and a brother-in-law, Irvin Patton.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ward L. Jr. and Geneva Pauley of Bland; a sister, Sadie Patton of Tazewell; a sister-in-law, Rosa N. Hall of Pulaski; two grandchildren, Kevin Pauley and Brandon Bailey, both of Bland; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bland County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 585, Bland, VA 24315.
Highland Bland Funeral Chapel in Bland was in charge of the arrangements.
