Lorrayne C. Muncy
Lorrayne Copenhaver Muncy, 97, of Wytheville died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ruthanne Henley officiating. Interment was in the Bland Cemetery.
She and her late husband, James B. Muncy Sr., were owners and operators of The Bland County Messenger. She was a member of Kings Grove United Methodist Church.
She worked for Virginia Department of Corrections’ Youth Division and for Radford University until her retirement in 1974.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, M.D. “Mack” and Daisy Etter Copenhaver; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara L. Sutherland and Richard K. Sutherland; two daughters-in-law, Nancy T. Muncy and Jane Copenhaver; and son-in-law, Dr. Edward Reed Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Sarah E. Orlans of Washington, D.C., and Jamie L. Smith of Gainsville, Fla.; three sons and daughters-in-law, James B. Muncy Jr. of Richmond, Thomas E. and Libby Muncy of Asheville, N.C., and Raymond M. Muncy of Richmond; a brother, Dr. Edward M. Copenhaver of Naples, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kings Grove United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Southwest Virginia.
Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of arrangements.
