RICHLANDS – A student has been charged with the April 14 bomb threat at Richlands High School.
Detective Tom Reid said the arrest was made May 19 after he received analysis of evidence from the state crime lab. The individual faces one felony count of communicating a bomb threat.
They were taken before a juvenile judge and released to their parents. Reid said the family has retained Richlands Attorney Shea Cook to represent their child.
The school was evacuated and the building searched by a canine officer after the threat was discovered. No bomb was found and students returned to class.
The school resource officer called 911 and reported that the threat was discovered written on a bathroom wall. A similar threat was made a few days later but the school was not evacuated. No charges have been filed in connection with that incident.
