APPALACHIAN LEAGUE ROUNDUP: Danville drills Johnson City

JOHNSON CITY – Leadoff hitter Cole Miles drove in six runs to lead the Danville Braves to a 15-3 Appalachian League victory over the Johnson City Cardinals on Monday night.

Johnson City made nine errors, including three by shortstop Dognnt Bolivar. Danville put the game away with an eight-run fourth inning.

Former Virginia High star C.J. Lee was 0-for-3 for Danville (3-2), but did score two runs.

Elizabethton 20, Princeton 6

David Bromberg pitched five strong innings and Elizabethton’s offense shined in a victory over the Princeton Devil Rays.

Bromberg allowed just two hits, walked two and struck out 10 in his five innings of work.

The unbeaten Twins (5-0) finished with 21 hits, including five from outfielder Ozzie Lewis.

Bluefield 15, Greeneville 4

The Bristol White Sox continue to have company in the Appalachian League’s West Division cellar.

Greeneville fell to 1-6, the same record as Bristol, in a setback to the Bluefield Orioles.

Richard D’Oleo collected five RBIs to lead Bluefield.
